Publisher's summary

Corpsman Luke Carter quit the SEALs to take care of his chronically ill daughter and now battles for a cure with the Guardians - a secret philanthropic organization that funds medical trials. To save costs, he must close a failing clinic in Haiti where a compassionate doctor fights to save her patients. Beautiful and strong, she touches his battered heart, making it feel something that died in him long ago - love. But time is a ticking bomb and their world is about to be ripped apart.

Look for characters from the SEAL EXtreme Team series to play small supporting parts in the book.

Audiobook Listener 👍🏾

A good storyline, worth listening to the audiobook. The entire story has a sense of unspoken answers, from the beginning their are secrets hidden and plots going on behind the scenes of the main two characters. I found that the information held from the reader allowed me to focus in on everything being presented in its timely fashion. Was the love a little quick, yes, we're there parts that seemed to be a little more dramatic than need be, yes. But, these characters lived their it all to the fullest. All emotions were 100 at all times, and I enjoyed the consistency.

When Worlds Collide

What I liked most about this book was the descriptive manner in which Hati and the characters were brought to life and the subject matter was handled delicately and responsibly.

I believed Ysabeau’s desperate need to keep the clinic open and the tough decisions Luke had to consider. It’s also understandable that Luke would be skeptical about the practice of voodoo and auras since he had never been exposed to it before. It was nice to see their love grow. The book also had some funny moments especially with the secondary characters.

Michael Levine’s narration was great. He
really made each characters voice come alive. Good job.

a little of everything in this story

I really enjoyed this book I had no idea what it was going to be was it going to be a romance or drama, adventure a fantasy and the answer is a little bit of each.
I enjoyed listening to it but can certainly see myself going to read this book to be able to save her some of the details a little bit better

Heart racing until the end!

this story was beautifully told, both by the author and narrator! I was on the edge of my seat from the suspense but also loved the passion and love between the characters! great read!

Beware! Below Are Spoilers!

Why in the world was the rescue drawn out? I almost quit the book because it gave me anxiety. So many unanswered questions. Did they find a cure? Were the patients saved? Did Sunny end up okay? An unreliable vision does not count as closure.

Other than this, the story was entertaining. I hope there is a second book that offers more closure.

I always appreciate when white authors attempt to diversify their characters because it doesn't happen often. I haven't looked up the author yet but I could tell in the way the characters were described or portrayed that it was not and african or black author.

All in all a great book!

Confused by the negative reviews

I was truly confused by the negative reviews. I truly enjoyed the story, loved the narrator’s accent abilities, and found the tension just right to keep me interested. The voodoo & similar remarks are indicative of a large part of the population. The violence occurred in a particularly gang area & I don’t remember any comment referring to a black child as a monkey. This was a good read & I look forward to the next book.

Well Written and Performed!

Its been a while since I've come across a romance novel so unique as this one. it had a good plot, and the narrative did a great job, even with the female voices. Loved it!

what a wild emotional rollercoaster

I will have to say this was a great story but I did Skip through it a bit because it was moving too slow and because it became predictable. I would have to say the love story was okay but what really had me continuing to read was the grandmother and godmother.

ugh

my least favorite of this series. just because it is long, does mean that it's interesting. I started skimmming chapters after about #8. just boring filler and nothing kept me interested in the characters or this storyliine. very glad that it was a freebie

Cute story

Story kept me engaged, but the Haitian accents were terrible. Slow burn and sweet connection. Not steamy parts but still an enjoyable one
