The tenth-anniversary edition of the game-changing #1 New York Times bestseller, featuring a new foreword.

For over a decade, Brené Brown has found a special place in our hearts as a gifted mapmaker and a fellow traveler. She is both a social scientist and a kitchen-table friend whom you can always count on to tell the truth, make you laugh, and, on occasion, cry with you. And what’s now become a movement all started with The Gifts of Imperfection, which has sold more than two million copies in thirty-five different languages across the globe.

What transforms this book from words on a page to effective daily practices are the ten guideposts to wholehearted living. The guideposts not only help us understand the practices that will allow us to change our lives and families, they also walk us through the unattainable and sabotaging expectations that get in the way.

Brené writes, “This book is an invitation to join a wholehearted revolution. A small, quiet, grassroots movement that starts with each of us saying, ‘My story matters because I matter.’ Revolution might sound a little dramatic, but in this world, choosing authenticity and worthiness is an absolute act of resistance.”

I have never had a book bring so many emotions to my soul as this book. I cried numerous times as I realized where I am in life and desire to be. I wish with all my heart I had read this book many years ago. Who knows , maybe I would not have understood it then like I do now. I honestly feel that of all the " self help" books I have read, this one book is the most helpful and touching to so many different areas of my life.

Should be mandatory reading

There is uplifting things I had to hear.
A few things I did not agree with which was not for me. In general a lot that I needed to hear and implement in my life. Fingers crossed on progression of implementing some of things I have learned.

Uplifting

I am not a lover of "self-help" books. I will open with that statement.

I first heard of Brene Brown because someone (mis)quoted Theodore Roosevelt's famous "Man in the Arena" speech and attributed it to her. As this is my favorite quote of all time, I became very annoyed, glanced at her bio, and wrote her off as a poser.

At the encouragement of several women I know (whom I have a lot of respect for), I listened to this book and found it to be a sharing of a huge body of research. The author shared a lot of her personal experiences as applied to the data in order to verbally illustrate her findings on wholeheartedness, courage and compassion.

It was well written and well performed by the author. I enjoyed it very much.

very good and well researched

I felt so disappointed when the book was over. I wanted more from the book and enjoyed my daily Brené Pep Talks as I listened to each guideposts. Truly, life altering work and research laid out in attainable ways.

When it ended I was sad.

I feel like all of Brene's work is wonderful but this one in particular is a good overview of what she breaks up in her corresponding books. It was my third time listening/reading and I always find something new that stands out. I can't recommend her work enough.

10/10 recommend no matter who you are
