I went Whole Food Plant Based no oil due to getting prescribed beta blockers heart medicine. I didn’t like the effect they had on me so researched how to prevent and reverse heart disease. Found Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn the author, Rip’s dad on you tube. Followed his advice and within 3 weeks I was able to work with my doctor with zoom calls to eliminate the beta blockers so back to no prescription medicines for me yay. Then I felt so much better over the following months I started adding back in chorizo and eggs and steaks. The 20 pounds I lost by accident started coming back so I joined plantstrong community and bought this book. I’m just about back on no meat or dairy and looking forward to making it a lifestyle. Even though I’m alone in my quest because I live with carnivores and get to smell bacon and steaks while I avoid them.

Highly recommended! Easy to listen to no the narrator and very easy to understand the principles.

I found this book to be fairly entertaining in that it uses a lot of humor to diffuse what is a fairly serious matter for many of us, eating in a way that promotes health. Rip isn't a scientist but does discuss some of the science that underlines his eating plan, notably the studies his father has done, and others that support reversing heart disease and protecting against cancer. Some of his statements as they relate to physiology/metabolism seemed a little off to me, but that was really my only complaint, and I'll forgive him for not being a scientist or an expert in nutrition. Overall, I think the book was a good and fairly convincing way to push those of us with health issues to adopt whole-heartedly, an approach to eating that is very different from the vast majority of Americans, and really any developed country.

I loved this book and I loved the narrator too! Lots of important nutritional and scientific info that could easily loose a new by like me, but the narrator kept me interested and engaged. I quickly consumed this book and I’m ready for another! This book got me pumped up and ready to dive head first into the Whole Foods plant based lifestyle! Thanks to Rip and his amazing and knowledgeable family!!

the information is pretty standard its actually very interesting the personal stories and anecdotes and even the silly jokes from time to time or a nice change from the typical vegan suggestions and I hope you will get as much as I did. by the way sorry for the run-on sentence use the speaker thingy to make this.
