Would you listen to The Debonair Bandit again? Why?

Yes, Marion Hedgepeth came to be one of the West's most ruthless bank robbers and killer. And yet he isn't well known today. Chased by the Pinkerton Agency. Paroled from prison where he had spent over half his life. Gave information on the infamous serial killer H.H. Holmes. His life is given a good send up by his descendant and author of the novel, B.W. Hedgepeth. And done in a visual manner of his life and the era. It's a Western, done well.

Marion Hedgepeth, the Debonair Bandit and his motivation for choosing to live the life he did.

What does Jim Sartor bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Jim Sartor has the voice of the Old West suited to this story. I have listened to an audio book he did on John Wesley Hardin and was impressed with it too.

If you could rename The Debonair Bandit, what would you call it?

I fought the Law and had an interesting time... ? lol

This may have presented Marion in a better light than he actually deserved. It IS a novel written by his relative. An interesting time and individual as the focus of the story though. In the same vein of the fictionalized versions for Butch Cassidy and Sundance.

Interesting

This is an advanced reader copy of the book provided by audiobook boom. The entire story was based on the life of a real person. The narrator was very good and added to the story. I hated that the family was torn apart because people chose different sides in the Civil War but I also do not like parents who abuse their children because of their own failings. The story was well written and gave some insights into why he was an outlaw.

given he was not nice robbing and killing he still had a sad life, he was blamed for things he did not do. I felt sorry for him at the end of his life, very good story narrator was excellent I received this book from the publisher, author and or narrator for a honest review and unbiased opinion via audio book boom dot com

Deliciously Exciting Listen!!

This book was a good fast paced thriller that kept you wanting more. I enjoyed each of the characters and found it to be worth listening to.From the very first page until the final one...exciting! My first time reading B.W. Hedgepeth's writting but will not be the last. Looking forward to following exciting adventures...l love his character...in fact all the people involved are interesting. Just read and enjoy.

This is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary.
I loved these old western bandit/bank robber stories and he was probably one of the last one. This was written a descendant of the Debonair Bandit. Because of the relationship I did notice that the bandit had a real tender heart and seemed to kill for justice or self defense. It is implied that he killed more but it doesn't say more on it. The dates, places, and facts are good and helpful. What makes the book "pop" is the narrator. It makes the book more real. The narrator can do so many voices, make the fiction seem fact. Without the narration, the book would would not be half as good, the narration as a realism that the print could not.

What would have made The Debonair Bandit better?

More events proving that he was actually a bandit rather than some sissy cowboy that was a good shot.

Would you ever listen to anything by B. W. Hedgepeth again?

Not likely.

Would you be willing to try another one of Jim Sartor’s performances?

Yes, perhaps with a more suitable book. Non-fiction maybe

I was provided this book by the author or narrator for review. The intonation used by the narrator did not suit a fictional "western" type book. The story itself goes way too fast (skips years) and then way too slow with boredom ensuing. Not good for fans of fictional westerns.
