What the Critics Say

"This story broke my heart and made me laugh and gave me hope - and really, what more can you ask of a book than that? I loved it, and I have a feeling you will too." (Jennifer E. Smith, author of Windfall and The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight)

"To much soap opera, in like the first one."

I struggled to finish it. Not because it wasn't good, but because there was to emotional excess. It made the story drag. I don't need to know every character's every thought.

    "Dark but deep!!"

Ms. Lavoy delivers another amazing performance, Ms. Bray’s 3rd in a series is entertaining and timely. My favorite “Diviners” yet—I can’t wait for the next one!

    "Disappointing."

I was impressed with the first two books in this series. They contained the perfect recipe of suspense, history and character and plot development. The first books were mesmerizing. This book, however, seems just a bit out of tune and slightly anticlimactic. The highest point of tension seemed to take place in the middle of the story rather than near the ending. It made every other suspenseful moment seem like a minor peak, especially the last two, the two that should have been the culmination of the novel. I thoroughly enjoy this series, and I hope she can make the next book adhere to a normal story arch.

"The best audiobook experience you can have"

Listening to the audiobooks for this series is like hopping on a rickety old train car and getting pulled along for the most spooky, thrilling, chilling, dazzling, suspenseful and immersive ride of your life. I think January LaVoy must be possessed to deliver narration like she does, it's not humanly possibly to be so good at so many voices. The story is great, the world building and characters are the best in the business, and I laughed, I cried, and I was scared out of my mind. Utter perfection.

    "SO GOOD"

I love this series so much. It's so well done. I can't wait to find out what happens in the final book. It's going to be an unbearable wait! And the narrator is fantastic, she really captures each character's personality.
