Publisher's summary

The final year at Lander has finally arrived for the Melbrook students and their peers, and with it comes a whole new set of challenges. Still reeling from the events of their junior year, the remaining students will have to push past their pain - and so much more - if they hope to be one of the 10 to claim the title of Hero upon graduation.

Constant tests and trials await the senior students. Beyond simulated missions and classes, they'll also have to buckle down to learn about agents, prospective teams, internships, and other seemingly endless elements of being a Hero. For some, however, the classroom is only one aspect of the trouble that lies ahead. Long-buried secrets have been unearthed; old mysteries are finally unraveling; and what lies at the center of it all has the potential to rock the realm of Heroes to its very foundation.

Parts are repetitive, confusion in narration

First the books have been great and I will still recommend this to others. The reason it only gets 4 stars is two fold. First, the author has made Vince and other characters so powerful he often nerfs them to allow fights to progress. It makes many fights predictable (Vince freezes, doesn’t use his potential, tries little electric shocks, realizes he has to fight hard, and then wins). Plus even with all the great imagination the author has, he misses so many abilities of Vince making him boring.
Second, the narrator is great, but the really quick jumps between sections can be confusing. Literally one sentence is one character and without a breath pause we are on a different one.

ONE OF THE BEST!

I currently have 77 audible books. This series is arguably one of the best series I've ever listened to. That list includes, Game of Thrones and The Dark Tower series .

The voice acting and writing make this story so vivid and easy to imagine. I couldn't stop listening. I'm not sure if I should be ashamed, but I finished this , the 4th book 60 hrs, in less than a week.

Long and lovely

This book goes on forever, and that couldn’t make me happier. I if you’ve gotten to this point, you already know and care about the characters, may be a bit too much if it’s going well. This, unfortunately( maybe not🤞), final book in the series doesn’t just do a good job of taking the characters through their arcs, but adds a last set of great evolutions.

I could give you lots of examples, but any spoilers would be a crime worthy of being kicked out of the program.😏

There are doors left open, but they feel more like hopeful teases as opposed to painful hanging threads.

If you have not read Corpies, it’s better to do so before you read this book. It helps with this book a bit, but more importantly there are things in this book that spoil some of the fun surprises in Corpies.

Drew sets me in dilemma because I have to decide which one of his different series want a new addition to next. But as much as I love Fred and the dungeon crew, the one I most want a next fix of is this one.

(PS, this review comes after the second time I listened through, which was somehow just as enjoyable. My only nit is that as good as the narrator is, some of the ancillary characters end up sounding too similar and it can get hard to figure out who is talking. )

well worth the wait

This book has been one hell of a ride! From revaluations to emotional roller coasters to laughing till I almost cried. This book could not have finished off the series any better. I would easily call this book one of, if not the best book Drew has written so far.

Epic…and then some

I anticipated a fourth and final story of the Lander class. I was repeatedly impressed with yet another tie in of a seemingly inconsequential and forgotten detail from one of the preceding three years.
Mr McCarley did a "Super" job in narration, although, there were time I felt a little too dramatic. There were calm or descriptive sections that seemed (to me) to sound sarcastic.

Absolutely fantastic ending to a fantastic series

This is now my favorite series and Kyle McCarley my favorite narrator. I found this series by accident and couldn’t be happier.

Super Story

This is the fourth book in the series and I have enjoyed every bit of it. It isn't for everyone I would suspect but I did enjoy it very much. The narrator and the performance - different voices for the different characters- were very good and gave the different personalities substance and depth. I would recommend this book to anyone who has grown up watching or reading super hero's in movies or comics. More than that, it makes you believe - ok this is cliche - that hero's really do exist and is in everyone of us. I hope there will be other books that carry on the stories of the Class of Nightmares but I am satisfied to know that in the end, truth and friendship prevails.

Amazing finale for a great series. I’m really hoping he expands on the universe going forward.

Worth the wait

If you have enjoyed the first three books of this series this one is a must listen. This answered all the questions I had from the previous three books.
