Publisher's summary

Some girls say no. Some boys don't listen.

When Grace meets Ian, she's afraid. Afraid he'll reject her like the rest of the school, like her own family. After she accuses Zac, the town golden boy, of rape, everyone turns against her. Ian wouldn't be the first to call her a slut and a liar.

Except Ian doesn't reject her. He's the one person who looks past the taunts and the names and the tough-girl act to see the real Grace. He's the one who gives her the courage to fight back.

He's also Zac's best friend.

Great

This book was very emotional for me. It was a bit of a reminder of what I went through in my past. However it was very well written and I loved the narration.

Blown away

this book was everything. it's hard for me to explain how it impacted me. but it really pulled at my heart' strings. the pain, anguish and anxiety, it was such a realistic story. I know that girl it happened to my friend when we were in high school. this is such a real story. I've been out of school for over 30 years. rape culture doesn't change

I usually don't leave reviews, and I'm going to change that. But, this book...omg. Had all the emotions. Great story, I want to slap her dad fyi. Also loved the narrators. Never heard of them before, now I'm looking for them!

Listen with your pre-teen or teen

A good way of getting a conversation started with your children about uncomfortable but important topics.

It was good

I have NEVER been angry or hated 99% of the characters in a book. Everyone in this book let Grace down. People who are meant to protect her, let her down. Her best friends let her down. And she forgave all of them way too easily.

Besides that, it was a good book. A lot of empowerment for Grace. She’s definitely not a victim but a survivor. For someone who had so much stacked against her, she still fought hard for herself. I’m proud of her.

EM & Joe did a great job narrating!

Confused

So the rapist got a way with his crime? The author was not clear at the end. I loved this story but confused at the end. Also, the heroine was such a strong person for such a young girl. However, she was so forgiven for the people who treated her so badly. I would’ve give five stars for all but the heroine character was inconsistent. Meaning she was tough throughout the whole story until at the end. She forgave the “ mean” people as well as the hero so easily. All in all, it was a good story.

Much needed literature

Truly phenomenal and something every teen should read and find something to resonate with. I can not put in to words how inspiring, and eye opening this much needed literature is.

I laughed, I cried, I got angry

This book reminds me of an older movie, She Fought Alone. But it's more relevant because it adds the element of social media, which didn't exist at the time of that movie. I got angry with everyone, including Ian, throughout this book. The thing about young men like Zach is that people around them often know they are monsters and they choose to ignore it. Grace was the strongest, most beautiful character I've ever had the pleasure of being acquainted with. This books shows the ugly truth that is rape culture. It's important that we start teaching young men and women that not only is rape not ok but the mob mentality of bullying other people is just as damaging as the sexual assault.
