Not what I anticipated...
The cover of this book is what drew me in. I was hoping it would be a riveting story like 'Before We Were Yours', given the summary and subject matter. However, it took 12 chapters for anything all that interesting to happen. If I hadn't chosen this to be our book of the month for our book club, I'm not sure I would have been all that interested in continuing with it. The story did eventually pick up, but there were some far fetched plot lines toward the end that didn't seem very realistic. Also, the audible file shows 44 chapters but ended at 39. This was also very misleading, as I was expecting more to the story. All in all the book was okay, but not one I would recommend to others. Especially given the really slow build and abrupt end. Rather disappointing, actually.

A newspaper women’s place in the 1900s.
This book started off slow but soon speeded up with many twists and turns. It depicted the times well and women’s place in society. I enjoyed the book and highly recommend it.

Good book
I enjoyed this book. Not great but worth the read. Some of it was a little contrived, but a touching story.
