In the compelling conclusion to the New York Times best-seller Her Mother’s Hope, Christy Award-winning author Francine Rivers explores the sorrow that can tear families apart and the grace that can heal the deepest wounds. Just as Carolyn had formed a stronger bond with her Oma Marta than with her mother, so Carolyn’s daughter is drawn to her grandma more than to a mom who’s caught up in the 1960s counterculture....

Publisher's Summary
New York Times best-selling author Francine Rivers returns to her romance roots with this unexpected and redemptive love story, a probing tale that reminds us that mercy can shape even the most broken among us into an imperfect yet stunning masterpiece.
A successful LA artist, Roman Velasco appears to have everything he could possibly want - money, women, fame. Only Grace Moore, his reluctant, newly hired personal assistant, knows how little he truly has.
The demons of Roman's past seem to echo through the halls of his empty mansion and out across his breathtaking Topanga Canyon view. But Grace doesn't know how her boss secretly wrestles with those demons: by tagging buildings as the Bird, a notorious but unidentified graffiti artist - an alter ego that could destroy his career and land him in prison.
Like Roman, Grace is wrestling with ghosts and secrets of her own. After a disastrous marriage threw her life completely off course, she vowed never to let love steal her dreams again. But as she gets to know the enigmatic man behind the reputation, it's as if the jagged pieces of both of their pasts slowly begin to fit together...until something so unexpected happens that it changes the course of their relationship - and both their lives - forever.

This is a Christian romance novel.
This sort of book should be identified in the description as what it is. There are probably separate categories for religious themed books but in the description there is no clue. This is not something I would ever have ordered if I knew in advance what it was. It is also described elsewhere as a romance novel but one has to look it up another way to discover this. Generally I prefer literature-not Romance novels. i will be returning it. Please put these details in the books description. Thanks

Didn’t know what I got myself into
The first half of the book was truly gripping and so so well written. But then it turns into an overwhelmingly religious book, I have no problem with religion or religious books this was just wayyyy too much for me personally. I had to finish, but honestly couldn’t wait for it to end.

Entertaining
I listened at the recommendation of my sister. I don’t normally gravitate toward romance stories, but she said it was amazing so I bit. The characters are well developed and even though the plot was predictable, I admit I couldn’t put it down. It was a fun listen. I appreciated the fact that it was a fun, clean romance.

Would have been nice to know that in advance. This is the sort of thing that should be advertised in the description. Though I suspect it was done on purpose...sneaky, but doubt you're converting anyone --just wasting their time and money.

Wanted to love it but....
Redeeming love is one of my all time favorites so I was so excited to find this book. I’m not sure if it’s he narrator or the writing but the relationship between Grace and Roman is extremely boring, their conversations are so slow and drawn out nothing to make you understand the attraction between the two. It’s confusing how the author time hops in no particular order. The voice the narrator gave Roman was difficult to follow, sometimes he sounded Hispanic sometimes black sometimes you just couldn’t tell.
It was a nice Christian story of coming to Jesus, but no where near as good as Redeeming love.

francine's words speak to my heart
Where does The Masterpiece rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
this is an enjoyable story with likeable characters. I found mysefl being uplifted in the hearing of it. It may not be the best novel ever written but I really wanted to keep listening
What did you like best about this story?
The way that the Christain characters in the book live out their faith unashamedly and the way they speak to each other makes a pleasant change to non christain novels I have read and enjoyed.
Which scene did you most enjoy?
I would love to go to the "masterton homestead". If only there were more people around who could take in and love lost teenagers like that. I'm sure that is how Jesus planned for things to be.
If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
God's grace in action
Any additional comments?
I really liked the narrator's voice and her accented characters. If you do more of Francine's books please use Susan Bennett again.
