**A NATIONAL BESTSELLER**

“Readers will be on the edge of their seats…. A brilliant tale of resistance, courage and ultimately hope.”
Kelly Rimmer, New York Times bestselling author of The Warsaw Orphan

From the New York Times bestselling author of The Last Bookshop in London comes a moving new novel inspired by the true history of America’s library spies of World War II.

Ava thought her job as a librarian at the Library of Congress would mean a quiet, routine existence. But an unexpected offer from the US military has brought her to Lisbon with a new mission: posing as a librarian while working undercover as a spy gathering intelligence.

Meanwhile, in occupied France, Elaine has begun an apprenticeship at a printing press run by members of the Resistance. It’s a job usually reserved for men, but in the war, those rules have been forgotten. Yet she knows that the Nazis are searching for the press and its printer in order to silence them.

As the battle in Europe rages, Ava and Elaine find themselves connecting through coded messages and discovering hope in the face of war.

“Uplifting, inspiring and suspenseful, this is one to savor!” –Natasha Lester, New York Times bestselling author of The Riviera House

“Madeline Martin is a fantastic author.
The Librarian Spy is a stunning tour de force of historical fiction.” –Karen Robards, author of The Black Swan of Paris

Good story, disturbing narration.

The book was good, but the narrator had a way of speaking in undertones, as if telling secrets. This continued throughout the book, creating tension, even during happier sections.
My throat is still tense from listening.

incredible story

I abhor romance novels, and was amazed, after reading Madeline Martin's book, "The Last Bookshop in London", that she writes romance novels! I have eagerly awaited reading "The Librarian Spy", and found it even better than "Bookshop". As a lover of historical fiction and WWII in general, I was delighted to find this new novel gripping and compelling. I highly recommend it.

Heart wrenching but beautiful

I enjoyed this historical fiction novel of World War II because of the beauty of the people who fought to survive and those who fought bravely to protect the innocent. Ms. Martin does a beautiful job in the writing of this book. I appreciate her diligent research, and providing her readers with a unique perspective of brave women during this horrific period of history.

Well done

This is a well crafted blend of facts from the tragic history of WWll and fiction. Very intense without excessive detail of the gruesome violence. Excellent narration.

Slow, shallow plot

After listening to this book for nearly 4 hours, I had to move to another book. It is so so slow and there’s really no plot developing. I cannot recommend this book

Feel like I’ve already read this

You may enjoy this if you haven’t read all the Woman Spy during War novels that have deluged the market over the past decade. I’m just tired of this genre.
