Story
It’s really hard to pretend like life is normal when you’re staring a monster in the eyes, though he’s both tempting and irritating in his human form. I put my days as a hunter behind me, unable to cope with the death and pain anymore, to become an upstanding citizen and for what? Though I was born with the ability to see the dead, I struggled with it until my brother was killed and his ghost was left behind. Now, I’m determined to figure out who is responsible for his death…the problem is that Detective Maddox Booker, the one working the case, is a grumpy and stubborn man who wants nothing to do with me and definitely doesn’t believe in ghosts. It doesn’t help that I keep finding myself looking ridiculous in front of the detective, thanks to interfering ghosts who enjoy laughing at my expense.

You think you know me. That's the way I want it. Making you feel like we know each other - like we could go grab a beer sometime - is part of my job. Maybe the most vital part. It doesn't hurt that I'm easy on the eyes, single at 35, and born richer than sin. My aesthetic matters much more than it should, but all the better for my worthy cause. And it's a worthy cause. I've made an art out of making you feel good, and my influence makes you want to be good. Good like me. You think you know me, but you don't. Everyone has secrets. Mine could cost me everything.

Soooo good!
The duel narration in this book was completely spot on! I love when an author knows the voice of their characters and can match it with narrators. Joel and Philip were absolutely perfect! I totally binge listened to this book. Stupid work got in the way but I finished and am already planning a re-listen. This book had everything you could ever want in a story; action, adventure, bad guys, worse guys, sexy times and a happy ending. Loved every second of this book!!

You don’t want to miss out
I read the book a while back and liked it even though mobsters usually aren’t my thing. Snow is such and endearing character you can’t help but fall in love with him. The book keeps you on the edge of your seat and gives you all the feels. I would have probably kept the narration to one narrator but that is just my opinion. I would recommend this audiobook.

Love this book, but...
I really loved this book when I read it way back, so seeing it as an audio book made my day... exept for the fact its two narrators. I love Joel Leslies work and Philip Alces are also good but still fairely new to me, they did there parts really good in the book and since the chapters follow two pov it works, but I still dont like to listen to different reader styles and having to adjust to the charachters over and over. There is also whenever the narrators switch you have to lower/increse the sound since the tone changed with whoever reads, but it isnt to bad.
I think if they had devided the charachters among the narrators and then stuck to them even thrue the others chapters I wouldnt have minded at all, since it is pov, but ofcourse thats to much work and I have only run into that kind of narration a couple of times. More work but with a so much better result if you ask me.
Other than that this book is really good and the narrators were great. Love the charachters and the story really suck you in, you wont be abel to stop listening!

Good enough for the re-read shelves
To start I knew nothing about Davidson King. That being said what a wonderful and amazing find I made with this book. The main characters are perfectly matched. The twist and turns of the plot were awesome. I have to wonder what kind of magic was cast on this book that I went the full six hours an twenty-one minutes all in one go and was sad the ticked off because there wasn't more. I need more Snow and Christopher please .

"A" rated review...
My Review:
Overall: 4.5
Performance: 4.75
Story: 4.5
Wow, what an amazing and creative debut novel. Huge kudos to Davidson King for knocking this one out of the ballpark. This book was incredible.
Snow lives on the streets. Everyone calls him Snow because of his pale-white complexion and hair. He comes upon a group of guys picking on a kid and steps in, offering whatever to get the guys to leave the kid alone. That kid just happens to be the nephew of one of the most notorious mob bosses around, Christopher. As a result, Snow is taken into Christopher's household.
I loved Snow. He's this great mix of streetwise, but maintains an incredible heart. He's kept his level of compassion and empathy even though he's had a hard, awful life the last few years, but isn't so naive as to ever wonder or doubt just how ruthless Christopher can be. Bravo to the author for maintaining that balance with both Christopher and Snow...without taking it too far in one direction or the other which could have really ruined the story.
The story was fantastic. While I wouldn't classify it as romantic suspense, it came darn close. There's always a threat hanging over Snow because the guy who had Christopher's nephew is pure evil and cannot sit by and let Snow go without paying.
Also, I really like this one in audio. There are two narrators which I tend not to like in m/m because their voices sound too different when they are reading the other character, but this one flowed perfectly. I loved these two narrators together.
All in all, I can definitely recommend this one. Now, I need to go read the other two books in the series, but the debate will be...read them now, or wait and hope they come out in audio.

Falling for Snow
I have to admit to only giving this book a chance based on Joel Leslie being the narrator. I will however, be looking for more from this author if this is any indication of their stellar writing ability.
This book had it all, romance, intrigue, murder and mayhem. The dual narration brought the words to life in a way that made a full Peter Jackson film play in my mind while listening.
I loved Snow from the beginning his courage in the face of such overwhelming odds when you everything to loose and nothing to gain and doing it because you know it's the right thing to do is truly heroic. Conversely watching the boss of a renown crime family was beautiful.
Christopher and Snow the price and cost of secrets. Those kept to protect yourself and those kept to protect the ones you love and cannot do without. Christopher's beloved nephew, Simon or "8" is kidnapped and Snow comes to his rescue. There is no hesitancy to do so and it sets the stage for all the life altering, scary as heck stuff that follows.
I will advise anyone who wants to listen to this to do so when they have time to listen to it all at one time. I made the mistake of starting this 2 hours before "bedtime" and I ended up staying up until almost 2 am before I had to force myself to turn it off because there's this thing called work that I had to go to the next morning.
I base whether or not a book is worth buying on whether or not I see myself reading it or in this case listening to it again. In this way I can tell you that I very definitely will so if you are wondering if this is worth a chance, a credit or your cash it is. It really is.
The story and narration are stellar, the passion and beauty of the story is phenomenal and the character, development and pacing are all incredible. So go click buy and then let Joel and Phillip woo you with the power of their voices :)

I am not a big fan of dual narration, but this one grew on me as it progressed. I had read the book, but I like to listen to Joel Leslie, so I picked this one up. It's a good story with lots of drama and emotion. Worth your time and the credit.

great debut from a new author.
The narrators - I have to be honest. I generally prefer one narrator over two. Both Philip Alces and Joel Leslie did such an excellent job, though, and I loved both of their narrations. In this book, the dual narration really worked for me.
The story - I didn't really know what to expect when I started listening to this book. Books about crime bosses or other members of the mob can be a hit or miss. They have to be likable enough to overlook their crimes for the reader to root for their happy ending. I thought Davidson King did a great job of that. I definitely felt for Christopher Manos. He seemed not to relish the dirtier parts of his job but it was a job he inherited and he was just what he had to do.
Snow was a very interesting character. He's homeless but very smart. It boggles the mind a little bit as to how he got there. When it was explained, I felt horrified on his behalf. He was someone who had been through a lot, but remained strong inside and more courageous than I would have been in his shoes.
This book is not exactly a short and sweet story. Both Christopher and Snow go through a lot. There is danger and intrigue. Seeing some of the violence did bother me, mostly because I saw those moments as senseless tragedy. But there are a few bright spots. I am a fan of Christopher's nephew who brings the two of them together. He's sweet and entertaining. There are a few good supporting characters I am definitely looking forward to seeing them get their own story too. Seeing Christopher and Snow feature as side characters will be a bonus.
This was an easy listen for me despite the tougher subject matter. I was drawn into the story while listening, and time flew by. I didn't want to stop even though it was late. I was delightfully surprised by how much I enjoyed the story and can't wait for more of this author's stories to release on audio.

Well done!
Now I thought I had already review this first book but just looking back now after reading (listening) the the last one on here. I realised I had not done so, so here goes lol. I listen to books because reading is based and that's why I have not even need able to finish what I try to write, so when I found audio books I was so so happy ☺ now when I find this book i t was because of the narrator, Joel and I found his and Phillip together are even better...! This book has been listen to a few times now... Every time the ne,t one came I went back to this one first so each one gets its relisten. I love this world so much and all the way through this first look into there lives I was hooked! When a book gives you everything you like you get addicted! And yes I did... Fantastic!
This is one of my absolute favourites - I relisten to this more often than any other book! It was a firm favourite when I read it, and the fact that one of the narrators was Joel Leslie made me buy it as I love his work. I hadn't heard of Philip Alces before, and this is the first and only audiobook I have with dual narrators. I wasn't sure at first and it took a bit of getting used to, but after about chapter 6 I was into it and wouldn't have this book any other way. Both narrators sounded like they worked really hard here - there were so many different voices and accents and all were faultless. Having said that, one voice, the nephew of one of the M/Cs, was performed very differently by both narrators and it was a bit wierd to hear it - this didn't detract from the general perfomance though. Philip Alces' chapters were a bit louder that Joel Leslie's - not a problem unless you're listening before going to sleep, then the change in volume was annoying.
The first four chapters are the best opening of any book ever - had me hooked so completely. I can't praise the writing enough - really great work by Davidson King! I haven't read or listened to any of the others in the series, mainly because I'm worried I'll be disappointed after reading/hearing this one - but I won't be able to abstain for too much longer I don't think!

Sweet romance
This was a nice read, but the romance was all a little too sweet considering it involves a crime boss. Definitely an easy listen.
Some of the plot is a bit frustrating, like when they are in a hurry to save someone and have a nice little chat with someone before leaving ..and let’s be honest, the rest of the story could have been tied up pretty quick if they hadn’t sat around gabbing and got a wiggle on and fixed the issue before it escalated. There were a few parts like that so it was difficult to buy into the crime world this was supposed to be set in. Surprised they’ve all survived so long!

There's always a soft side.
Great character backstory, and all the characters have depth. The story is sad in parts, harsh, soft, fun. But, seriously, it has everything that I need for a great book. Having two people narrate is always a great experience as it's so much easier for your ears and mind to separate the characters.
A tough mafia with a soft heart, a street boy with a very soft heart, and a lonely young child. Plus lots of side characters. Well worth the read and would highly recommend.
New to me narrator Philip Alces was extremely easy to listen to, and Joel Leslie was perfect as the voice of snow. However, I sped up the audio to 1.25, which is usual for me.

not really interesting
This novel did not captivate me. It was not romantic and not thrilling. The two narrators were very different, which made recognizing the voices difficult. They have not taken the effort to synchronise the voices with each others repertoire.

Brilliant book, audio takes some getting use too.
I fell in love with Snow, yeah he is the stereotypical twins who everyone loves. But he has strength and a dark sides too. Christopher I liked but didn’t love, I got him but I think there needed to be more to him. Good book and wi read the rest of the series.
