Publisher's Summary

Riordan Darcy has spent the last 14 years building a name for himself as a notorious assassin. He travels the world taking the lives of some of the worst humanity has to offer, leaving his signature on every victim.

Riordan becomes unhappy and withdrawn from the world after a job goes horribly wrong, and he makes the decision to get out of the life he was forced into so long ago. When his meddling older sister gives him a birthday gift that's impossible to refuse, his plans to leave his life of crime take a backseat when he's forced to protect the life of a veritable stranger.

When professional hugger and TLC provider Teddy Harris is offered a month-long companionship contract, he's hard pressed to turn it down. Cuddler by day and a video game reviewer by night, Teddy's need to make people feel loved and cared for is what drives him. When he meets Riordan Darcy, professional challenge and personal temptation collide, making it nearly impossible for him to endure a whole month with the gorgeous, enigmatic man without falling head over heels in love.

When a mole is discovered within Riordan's organization, relationships are compromised, and people's lives are in danger. Time isn't on their side, and they discover answers can't always be found by hugging it out when someone is hell-bent on eliminating each and every one of them.

Can Riordan and Teddy survive long enough to fall in love, or will they die trying?

Contains mature themes.

Great Sequel

I loved Snow Falling and to come back to that universe was pure joy.
I fell in love with the story and Teddy quickly found a place in my heart, his business made me smile and if he had it here I would so hire him. I have actually seen a documentary about lonely people that meet up and hug and share normal, non sexual, toutch. I think not menny realise just how menny people there is out there that are lonely. We all need a Teddy in our life. So to build this story on hugging and companionship was just brilliant. I loved the charachters, they complimented each other perfectly, and I must say I was super happy when Snow first appered. Was fun to see how he was doing after his wedding in book 1.
As I have said in menny of my reviews, I usually dont like more than one narrator, but I just love Joel Leslies and Philip Alces work. They were perfect for there charachters and I cant wait to hear more from these briliant people!
Really recommend this book!

I didn't know this was a series

Okay so I listened to Snow Fall and liked it so much that I wanted to read more by this author. I was surprised to find it was part of a series so I immediately got the rest of the books in this series. This is book two and I was not disappointed. Possible spoilers (not really but some people tend to get annoyed at the smallest hint of the story so warning anyway) A professional hugger and an assassin? Who would have thought that would make a good story. But it really was good. I like that so far the books in this series can be read as stand alone stories or as part of the series. I also like that we get to see characters from the previous book. Philip Alces is a relatively new to me narrator and I love how strong his voice is. I have heard Joel Leslie in several other books and I tend to really enjoy his performances. This was no exception. We didn't really get a deep background on either of the main characters but we did get to see what led them to the point where they met. I always love it when an author does not over explain or describe. So far I am digging this series. I have the next book, A Dangerous Dance downloaded and can't wait to listen to Mase and Bill's stories. I know that this is not any type of alpha and omega book, but Both guys seem alpha to me so I am sure their story will be very interesting, especially given how much they butted heads in this book. Cant wait.

Can’t wait

Each book gets better as I’m made to feel like a teenage boy again. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the series but anxious to listen to book three and how it blends with the lives of the developed characters.

as good as the ebook

The story is always 4 or 5 stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, but I listen enough to give a review.

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:

5* - very very good
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A

3* - it's more then a one-time-listening.
it's like a B

This Series Is Absolutely Superb.

I am loving this series. This 2nd book is just as fantastic as the first one. Both stories are superb. Davidson King has really outdone herself with these books. I'm new to her as an author but, believe me, from now on I will look out for more books by her. There is a dark side to the stories but, the way he wrote the characters, so well, and explained how and what caused the darkness in them, that you didnt mind at all, at least I didn't. At first I had my reservations regarding two different narrators, I was wrong. Joel Leslie & Philip Alces are doing an amazing job bringing each character to life. I highly recommend anyone searching to listen to a good series with powerful, dangerous men with loving hearts, should start with this series. I'm glad I did!😌

Ok but didn’t fulfil its potential!

Bloodthirsty hitman, Riordan Darcy, decapitates his victims and sends the heads to clients as proof of job completion - needless to say, he’s not a people person. When one of his jobs kills innocent targets, his well-meaning family hire Teddy Harris, a professional hugger, because he seems down. Little does Teddy know he’s putting himself in the firing line. This was ok, but I didn’t love it. With such a fun premise I was expecting an Alice Winters-style story, so I was constantly wrong-footed by the more sombre tone and I found it hard to adjust - that’s on me. Some of the plot choices were flimsy or consistent, eg. big, scary Riordan agrees to go along with hiring Teddy because he won’t have to deal with his parents (who are very sweet), yet he later agrees to them attending his birthday party. Despite the content, the writing and romance didn’t grab me, especially the instalove (Teddy is only hired for a month). In the audiobook, Teddy is aptly narrated by Joel Leslie and he gets the tone and character right. I felt that Philip Alces was the wrong narrator for Riordan. Although Philip is a very competent narrator, he used a careful, cultured, professorial tone - it’s a beautiful voice but it just didn’t sit well with the character.
