Publisher's summary

“What darkness within the Labyrinth awaits?”

After defeating the Shadow King and opening the gateway to the mysterious Labyrinth of Onizoso, Reece's hopes are dashed when a surprise attack leaves his girlfriend's life hanging in the balance.

To save her, Reece and his friends must enter the labyrinth in hopes of finding the one person who may be able to bring her back to life...but in a place where players turn into Shard Wraiths, their hopes may already be lost.

Now Reece will have to navigate a strange new world fraught with dangers, while fending off a pursuing army and racing against the clock. And with his arch nemesis lurking just outside, the labyrinth might be only the start of his troubles.

To protect the ones he loves, Reece will have to challenge both his fears and principles, or risk losing everything and becoming a Shard Wraith himself.

But the Labyrinth holds many dark secrets, and what he discovers within may not only change the outcome of their mission, but redefine the very nature of the game world itself.

dont believe the reviews, whole book is good!

the ending was unsatisfying to me, but most unresolved endings feel that way to me a little bit. the author hints at some really interesting ideas im looking forward to seeing where he goes with this series.

All in all this is a very enjoyable series that doesn't have a bunch of useless sex scenes or swearing or anything else like that. the hero in the story is actually a hero, and that's rare these days with anti-heros and "bad guy" characters being all the rage these days.

The author doesn't seem to be making any political statements or pushing any agenda's either, just a good story with good characters, and a solid plot line.

Good but not great

I’ve enjoyed this series so far. It has an interesting premise and plot, but the MC is a bit “slow”, the other characters a bit shallow, and the relationships between them are a bit juvenile.

There are a few instances of repeated alerts, sometimes eight or nine times, I.e. “you have picked up a copper coin, you have picked up a copper coin....” instead of “8 copper coins.”

These books could use some better editing and the narrator stumbles a little, but overall, the story is quite intriguing. It’s like a LitRPG version of Red Rising as far as the base poly goes.

Again it’s not the best LitRPG out there but imo worth the credits. I’ll be staying with the series.

Trebuchet

Love it (and the previous two books)
The only thing I didn't like, I'll sum up as a note to the narrator: the second T in trebuchet is silent

keeps getting better

Makes me want to start book 4 now and also try to slow down because they only have 4 books out. This is a solid book but you must already know if you listened to book one and two already.

great book

loved it! the author makes an interesting fast paced story. it's full of twists, danger and mystery. It also has the mechanic if leveling up and finding loot that hit the pleasure centers of a gamers brain.

narration is also very good.

Seconds from failure

I still like the series, it's very interesting. The main issue for me seems to be how close they are to failure constantly. There is now down time, and less story/character growth, it's all cliffhangers. You would think I would love that, but apparently it wears on me eventually. It's still a good series of books.

Wild excitement with a lull

Constant excitement from start to finish with lots of action and character growth. Seemed like there wasn't a moment where the characters weren't battling something. The world expanded even further with the various developments. It was interesting to see it shift partially to third person for certain elements, but it kind of made sense. And it did add a certain depth to it. By far the best one in the series so far. My only two complaints was first how things kind of stalled when they got to the fortress, but it did allow them to examine the relationships between the characters, while also maintaining the pressure on them. The other was, from a purely audio standpoint, the repetitive system messages received by the MC. It really caused the story to stall. But I imagine reading it would not have the same issue. Definitely interested in seeing where it will go next.
