Financial Freedom is a step-by-step path to make more money in less time, so you have more time for the things you love. Publisher's Summary
Set yourself up for life as early as possible and enjoy life on your terms!
Are you tied to a nine-to-five workweek? Would you like to “retire” from wage-paying work within 10 years? Are you in your 20s or 30s and would like to be financially free - the sort of free that ensures you spend the best part of your day and week, and the best years of your life, doing what you want?
Building wealth is always possible, even while working full-time, earning a median income, and making up for a negative net worth. By layering philosophy with practical knowledge, Set for Life gives young professionals the fiscal confidence they need to conquer financial goals early in life. Accumulating a lifetime of wealth in a short period of time involves working harder and smarter than the average person, and Set for Life demonstrates how to do just that - from zero savings to five figures, then to six figures, and finally, to the ultimate goal of financial freedom.
Wealth isn’t just about a nest egg, setting aside money for a “rainy day”, or accumulating an emergency fund. True wealth is about building out a financial runway - creating enough readily accessible wealth that you can survive without work for a year. Then five years. Then for life.
Listeners will learn how to:
- Save more income - 50-plus percent of it, while still having fun
- Double or triple your income in three to five years
- Secure “real” assets and avoid “false” ones that destroy wealth

An Excellent Money Management Book
Any additional comments?
I'm an avid reader of this type of book and content. I've read GoCurryCracker, Mr. Money Mustache, The Millionaire Fastlane, I Will Teach You To Be Rich, and a bunch of other books and blogs. This one is among the absolute best. There aren't too many revolutionary ideas here, but they are packaged in a way that is easy to understand and fairly comprehensive. I also loved that the author narrated himself and he does a great job. There are several absolute gems in this book. Awesome read.

Set for American life
This book is mainly geared for the average American office worker with little or no understanding of personal finance. However the book have some main good points and will set the foundation for anybody interested in improve its personal finances. The best key points I like from the book are: focus on lower your mayor fixed expenses (housing), clean up any bad debt before you start to invest or acquire any good debt. Understand what your goals are. Review your net worth regularly. Understand how you are spending your time and how that will impact your finances in the long term. Understand how leverage can accelerate you to faster reach financial freedom. I think the best advice from the book is about the false idea / trap of stock picking as a way to reach financial freedom which I think many investor experience over a lifetime. The bad thing with the book is that it is heavy geared towards American people/context and based on the authors own experience and circumstances. Example of a strange advice given in the book: "if you cannot house hack the move to another city where you can". Should both me and my wife quit our jobs, move to another country/city just so that we can house hack ? just becomes house hacking was working for the author does not mean it will work for all.

Thank you Scott Trench
Scott,
You were talking directly to me in this book. I think you outlined the American Dream wonderfully. Through large marketing campaigns from Big corporations we have been taught that we need to consume to have happiness. This couldn’t be further from the truth because in reality, we create a lifestyle that is difficult to support without working your typical wage paying job.
You have given me the inspiration to purse more in life and take calculated risks. I am aspiring to build a financial runaway ($25-$40k). With little debt, $5k car loan and no student loans, I am in perfect position to do something more risky, Working for a startup or a sales position that has more ability to increase my income in the short term. I am currently working “the safe job” at a large multinational corporation as a financial analyst. I took this job because of advice I was given . Now, I see the way to give myself a chance at pursing my dreams and not someone else’s is by taking a “career risks”. It is less risky when you have your own capital to support yourself.
Thank you. I still have a lot to learn, but your book leaves me craving more knowledge and wanting more answers. This is what a good novel does!
