Publisher's summary
Dale Carnegie, author of the legendary How to Win Friends and Influence People, began his career as the premier "life coach" of the 20th century by teaching the art of public speaking. Public speaking, as Carnegie saw it, is a vital skill that can be attained through basic and repeated steps. His classic volume on the subject appeared in 1926 and was revised twice - in shortened versions - in 1956 and 1962.
This 2006 revision - edited by a longtime consultant to Dale Carnegie & Associates, Inc., and the editor in charge of updating How to Win Friends and Influence People - is the definitive one for our era. While up to date in its language and points of reference, Public Speaking for Success preserves the full range of ideas and methods that appeared in the original, including Carnegie's complete speech and diction exercises, which follow each chapter, as the author originally designated them.
This edition restores Carnegie's original appendix of the three complete self-help classics: Acres of Diamonds by Russell H. Conwell, As a Man Thinketh by James Allen, and A Message to Garcia by Elbert Hubbard. Carnegie included these essays in his original edition because, although they do not directly relate to public speaking, he felt they would be of great value to listeners. Here is the definitive update of the best-loved public-speaking book of all time.

Now that the citizens of our world have made radical shifts because of the global pandemic, and adjusted to remote work and social distancing, the ways we used to connect with others may seem distant or even obsolete. We yearn for real connection, deep and meaningful interactions that are based on commonality instead of what we can get from one another.

Story
Whether you're trying to communicate your business idea to an investor, encourage your children to embrace your moral values, or break an addiction to endless web surfing - if you lack the skill of influence, you will be unable to convince yourself or anyone else. The human mind is like a titanium lock. If you communicate poorly - through endless talking, inattentive listening, or over-the-top pressure - it's like spinning the numbers on the lock over and over uselessly. But if you develop the key skills of influence, it's like knowing the exact combination to that lock.

Some good informative
My personal opinion was that this book was way to long. Performance was solid, of course some information was definitely worth it, but could have cut a lot of the filler stories out. I think it would be good for high school students to listen to and even college students to grasp. But be prepared for also some dry material.

Wisdom from the past
Lots of information, though some outdated, can definitely still be utilized today. There is also bonus content from other writers at the end that adds to all the knowledge one can soak up.

Absolutely fantastic!
The last chapter was the best! It wrapped an incredible book with a nice bow. This book will indeed teach you tactics related to becoming a better speaker- but it ends with gems associated with the necessary tools to be a good man or woman. Truly, the authentic speaker will go the furthest. So seek your truth, so that that you may command a crowd’s attention by speaking from what is near and dear to you. If what is near and dear is true, its foundation is based in servitude. A message worth hearing serves humanity. So you see, it all comes full circle if you pay attention.
