John Wooden is no Joe Paterno

Would you listen to Coach Wooden's Pyramid of Success again? Why?

Yes, there were so many inspirational stories. He created an environment that wouldn't have allowed Joe Paterno's problems in the door. He kept a bible on his desk , but never preached to any of his players.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Coach Wooden's Pyramid of Success?

When he talked about the time four of his players were out with the measles, and the opposing coach ran up the score. He said he did the same thing to that team when his team was at full strength. He later apologized for not choosing the higher ground.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

The Higher Calling

Coach Will Always be ..... Coach!!!

Coach Wooden was a man who was truly ahead of his time in so many ways!

He not only was a "great maker of men and young people", he was a visionary and someone who "walked the walk and talk the talk".

They don't come along very often like Coach Wooden.... we can all learn some valuable lessons on life from Coach!

Misleading book...

Would you try another book from John Wooden and Jay Carty and/or Sean Runnette?

I love the principles of John Wooden

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

His success principles are fantastic

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

Story is well told.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Easy to listen to

Any additional comments?

I wasn't expecting to be ambushed with Christian propaganda when I purchased this book. I can handle a little but I was completely thrown off with statements like Woodens priciples have stood the test of time like the bible. Woodens may have stood the test of time but the bible has been proven many times to contain untruths and immoral statements about things like slavery and revenge. Comparing the 2 is off putting.

Misleading title. More bible than basketball.

Misleading title. More bible than basketball. Not terrible for what it is, but not at all what I thought I was buying.

Deceptive

Didn't realize this book was half wooden, half Christian. Essentially, bought one book, got half of one. Had to fast forward through half the book to get past the bible crap and back to wooden.
Deceptive cover !

shoving god down your throat

What would have made Coach Wooden's Pyramid of Success better?

I did not realize I was buying a religious book. Although I really wanted to listen to John Woodens philosophies, I did not realize I was going to have sit through being preached to. It is not just a little mentioning of god, this book shoves it down your throat. I can not do it,I have tossed out the book. The audio preview should include one of the religious sections and it should be indicated in the description as being a highly religious based book.

Would you ever listen to anything by John Wooden and Jay Carty again?

No!

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator is fine

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

hidden agenda

Any additional comments?

This book has a far right " religious" agenda I believe Coach Wooden was misled by the author's intents. I have read other books with and about John Wooden and gained from them. I can not recommend this book or its objectives
