"I am just a common man who is true to his beliefs." (John Wooden)

Evoking days gone by when coaches were respected as much for their off-court performances as for their success on the court, Wooden presents the timeless wisdom of legendary basketball coach John Wooden.

In honest and telling passages about virtually every aspect of life, Coach shares his personal philosophy on family, achievement, success, and excellence. Raised on a small farm in South-Central Indiana, he offers lessons and wisdom learned throughout his career at UCLA and life as a dedicated husband, father, and teacher.

These lessons, along with personal letters from Bill Walton, Denny Crum, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Bob Costas, among others, have made Wooden: A Lifetime of Observations and Reflections on and off the Court an inspirational classic.

Great book to listen to once, but then also have on in the background as you’re working through your day.

A Great Listen and Relisten

I have been a fan of the "self-help" genre for a while there are many tremendous individuals writers, if I had to choose only one person to emulate fully, it would be coach Wooden.

His was a life well lived. Getting to hear the details of how he thought about things is a privilege.

Not only are his resume and ideas impressive, his talent for communicating those ideas in a passionate and succinct was while in his late 80's is equally impressive.

One of my father-in-law's bragging rights is that he got to actually see Wooden coach. After reading Wooden's book, I understand what that is such a big deal to him.

No greater role model than coach Wooden

Wooden was a winner on the court and the library. This book and his Pyramid of Success are worth buying, listening to, and sharing.

Old fashioned? Timeless

I was pleasantly surprised with the way Coach taught his players leadership at every opportunity that not only helped them on the court but in life. Great read!
