Publisher's Summary

The best-selling post-apocalyptic epic adventure the Last Survivors - the complete series of six audiobooks in one bundle.

Survival in man’s second Dark Age.

Three hundred years after the fall of society, the last fragments of civilization are clinging to life, living in the ruins of the ancient cities in medieval conditions. Technology has been reduced to legend, monsters roam the forests, and fear reigns supreme. But that is just the beginning.

The wind-borne spores are spreading, disfiguring men and twisting their minds, turning them into creatures who threaten to destroy the townships. Among the townsfolk, political and the religious, dissension is spreading. Through it all, a mother must protect her son.

The complete six-audiobook Last Survivors series.

what a great epic story!

I had this in my wish list for months. I put it off because even though it was post apocalyptic, I usually go for a more current apocalypse (love reading/listening as the apocalypse as it is happening) and this one takes place 300 years after.
with that said, I am so glad I downloaded it - well worth the credit! listening for ~50 hours to the same story, can sometimes get boring and repetitive (I have a few book series that I got half way through, and didn't care to finish), but this was not the case with the Last Survivors book series book 1-6.
the writing was great and you wouldn't know from listening that it was a collaboration of the two authors - Adair and Piperbrook certainly complement each others style.
And of course, you can't beat anything narrated by Sean Runnette - that man can describe paint drying on the walls and make you want to stick around to see how it turns out :-)

Hours and hours of brutality and torture

This is foul, sick story. It is just hours and hours of brutality, intimidation, rape, burning people at the stake, cannibalism, and torture, of cruel, sick people and deranged minds. There are no characters to like. Everyone turns out to be either an abuser or a coward. It's a nasty book. I wish I could wash my mind. If I could give it zero stars I would. I'm sorry I spent my credit on it.

Loved it!

Writing this review to say that even though I am VERY picky about narration, I do not understand the negative comments regarding the narrator. I feel that the tenure and pace was absolutely perfect for this series!

I loved this series!

Rarely do I bother with writing these reviews but this time I had to. About 3/4 of the way through I didn't want it to end. I didn't know there was more. So good I'm on to the next series. Love the characters. Love everything about this series.

This story is AMAZING

The authors should be proud of these masterpieces- I have not put it down and finished all 50 hours of art in less then a week. The voice actor really brings the tale to life. Thank you to everyone involved because this is amazing. - A very picky reader

I'm glad that's over.

Don't get me wrong, the story's OK, but the narration is as dull as dish water.
All the characters sound the same and he uses the same depresessed tone all the way through.

Totally ridiculous, awful, stupid books

I gave this 2 stars as it engaged me enough to persevere as I wanted to hear how it ended. But getting there was so painful.

None of the characters were at all engaging. All of the lead characters were either unbelievable or just ridiculously stupid. The story lines made no sense. The decisions everyone made were stupid. The bad guys were caricatures.

Some of the situations just can't be believed. Such as Tenbrook and the fact that the soldiers that he leads are seemingly willing to slaughter women and children with no second thought. Earlier in the book it was said that his soldiers don't like him. I assume that the soldiers in question have family and friends that are not also soldiers and so amongst their victims, but apparently they are all, without exception, willing to commit mass murder for a chap they don't like.

Has to be the worst book I have managed to listen to the end.

Loved it!

Great story, good value over 50 hours, but it didn't feel too long, I would have been happy to listen to another 50 hours! In fact I listened to the whole book twice...

The Last Survivors

I really enjoyed this series. Not my usual kind of stories but these books are so well written that I couldn't not read them once I had started. The characters were so vibrant and alive. When you thunk about what life could degenerate into, especially now, when we are in the grip of this Corona /Corvid 19 Virus with no end in sight, this could happen. Beware!!!

Pleasant Surprise

Bought this as a time filler whilst waiting on another book release. Loved this book. Very different and interesting take on the longer term outcome of an Apocalypse. Have just downloaded the sequel.

Boring and terrible narration

I have listened to many audible books of this genre and was hoping for something new. This was a huge disappointment, it's all been done before. The story line was beyond boring , I think the amount of gore was introduced to spice it up - it doesn't. To top it off this has to be was of the worst narrator voices I've heard. Dull, dull dull. Kept trying to find some redeeming feature, but gave up before halfway through

It's OK. I wonder how it would have been in book

It's OK. I wonder how it would have been in book for as I found the narrator frustrating.

The Last Survivors

A very addictive series. keeps you guessing from start to finish. I also like that all 6 books come together end to end. very good listening for the price.
a pity that the editor didn't go through the manuscript one more time for errors though, one book in the last half of the series had a number of them .

who would have thought we were magical

I love listening to books narrated by Sean runnette so if nothing else I was happy to listen to his voice.
this story was an interesting take of the natural way power is automatically taken. after the distruction of the human race due to a virus a small group of people begin to build it up again. here they go back to basics. women are no longer relevant and the opinion of the few are taken as the word.
there was some strong characters that pushed the story and the short chapters from different perspectives allowed it to jump around without becoming muddled.
