Publisher's summary

The best-selling post-apocalyptic epic adventure the Last Survivors - the complete series of six audiobooks in one bundle.

Survival in man’s second Dark Age.

Three hundred years after the fall of society, the last fragments of civilization are clinging to life, living in the ruins of the ancient cities in medieval conditions. Technology has been reduced to legend, monsters roam the forests, and fear reigns supreme. But that is just the beginning.

The wind-borne spores are spreading, disfiguring men and twisting their minds, turning them into creatures who threaten to destroy the townships. Among the townsfolk, political and the religious, dissension is spreading. Through it all, a mother must protect her son.

The complete six-audiobook Last Survivors series.

A Difficult And Dark Tale

This series was not easy to listen to, it was so full of darkness, evil and cruelty but the payoff in the final book made it all worth it. I will nezt dive into the sequel series.

Armageddon

this is an interesting series, 6 parts, about how a fungus takes over the minds of humanity. it's a post future world that is rather grim with zombie people feeding off of others. if this is your topic of interest, then you'll enjoy this book.

There are no heroes... Only survivors

This series is brutal and violent, but it's okay. The first book is a bit hard to get through, but there is big payoff. The story touches on the worst humanity has to offer as society has degraded back to the dark ages. As such, the themes are very dark. I recommend listening through, as it is a story of finding liberty from oppression, and has a strong message about women's rights and the struggle they face. It also covers the danger and the chaos a religion can bring, but also the hope and unity it can instill. Stick it out to the end, you won't regret it.

Great epic story. Fantastic narration.

This was sooo worth one credit! One of the few dystopian society "zombie" stories where the zombies are secondary to the main plot and character development. I would recommend this to people who normally stay away from the zombie post apocalyptic genre. I loved the feeling of this novel; very dark, primal, primitive and without radio or other communication secluded from the larger world. A place where circumstances gave birth to its own political and religious system, where the sword rules and where technology long gone is thought of as magic. Bobby Adair, T.W. Piperbrook obviously had a blast creating this dystopian world. Thumps up! I am a huge fan of Sean Runnette so I loved the narration that matched the mood of this dark story perfectly.

This book evolved into a great series

I have to admit, I hated it at the beginning! I didn't care for the narrator, I could care less about the characters, it just didn't flow well in my mind and listening to it was difficult.... But I told my self to give it a shot, at least a few hours and see if it got better -and it did! At 14+ hours in, I'm hooked. I honestly can say that I now like the narrator as I am more used to him and his style. The story is a bit slow to get going but I feel very interested in learning more about them, their society, and what will happen next.
If you are on the fence, spend the credit- try it for a few hours. I think you'll like it and be glad you kept it!
I seriously was about to return the book - and I've never returned a book, but I gave it a chance and I'm glad I did!
