Publisher's Summary

A terrible plague has been loosed upon the earth. In the course of one night, mankind teeters on the brink of extinction. Fighting through gathering hordes of undead, a group of friends brave military checkpoints, armed civilians, and forced allegiances in an attempt to reach loved ones. Thwarted at every turn, they press forward. But taking roads less traveled could cost them everything.

    "Zombies! SO fast! Everywhere "

I liked how the Zombies came about to be. very cleaver. The story moves quickly, and has a lot of action packed into it.

It took me a bit, to like the narrator, At first, I just couldn't bond with his voice, but it got better over time.

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

I really enjoyed these stories. I wish both books had been a little longer. The narrator continues to improve each time I listen to him. I received this audiobook for free through Audiobook Boom for my unbiased review.

    "Entertaining and enjoyable"

Entertaining and enjoyable zombie apocalypse story. It pulled me in from the start and held my complete attention. I wasn't ready for it to be over when it ended and immediately went looking to see if there were more installments of the series available on Audible. Unfortunately not yet.

While there is really nothing new or unique overall about the scenario it's an interesting and enjoyable good story with a well rounded cast of characters. I really liked that the origin of what started the apocalypse was fully explained. Instead of being dropped into the middle of the action.

The story follows several different groups in their attempts to avoid dangerous situations, adjust when they can't, what happens to them on their way to get home/reunite with each other or reach a destination.

One of the most entertaining about things any type of apocalypse story is if you pay attention you can learn something new, unusual or just something you might never have thought of.

S.W. Salzman does a good job with the narration. I have listened to several books that he has narrated but in this book his voice seems to be even more raspy/gruff than usual and it took me a while to adjust to his narration. Not long though. He is one of those narrators that has an easily recognizable voice. Good character voices. I even liked his female voices. Just a slight change in cadence was enough to distinguish a female character. I'm glad he didn't try to do a falsetto voice for female characters. He was able to bring the characters and story to life. Hopefully he will be narrating the rest of the series.

    "Zombie Apocalypse in Middle-America"

This story is the beginning of a serialized account of the event that sparks a world zombie Apocalypse and it's immediate aftermath. A word of warning. It IS a serial, so if you're not into long term commitments, you might want skip this one. This particular story introduces 3 (4 if you count the college kids and their parents as 2 separate groups because they are geographically separated) separate groups of survivors but it ends merely 18 hours after the event so don't expect to see a happily ever after at the end. Still, if you've stuck with The Walking Dead over it's myriad seasons, you probably have the stamina and the mind set to really enjoy this story.
The characters are an interesting combination; a mustered out soldier, a survivalist and a collection of farmers, college kids, suburbanites and mostly ordinary folks. A few are whiny, bellicose and otherwise annoying. Others, you just know you're going to become attached to if they manage to keep ahead of the zeds for another book or two.
I really liked this selection ... but I'm a Walking Dead fan, so that's not really a big surprise. If you like zombie stories, you'll probably like this one too.

"Great Start to a zombie series!"
Would you consider the audio edition of Zed's World to be better than the print version?

Never read the print but the audio version was really good!

What did you like best about this story?

Loved the characters and different perspectives. Really liked D-day!

Have you listened to any of S.W. Salzman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Haven't heard any of his other stuff. And I'll admit that at the beginning I didn't think I would like his style and voice. But he really grew on me, couple hours into the book.

    Any additional comments?

I received this audio book for free in exchange for an honest review.

"A solid entry in the Zombie Apocalypse Genre"

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

As the title says, this was a solid entry to the Zombie Apocalypse (ZA) genre, but I wouldn't call it anything new. As many of these books do, it follows several people or groups as they survive the ZA. I really appreciated that the author took the time to explain how the ZA came about. I can't tell you how many books I've read or listened to that fail to do that. The narrator was ok, he had a dynamic voice but only a couple characters had a truly unique voice. I wouldn't recommend picking these books up individually but if you are a big ZA fan, it's worth a credit.

"Looking forward to the next one!"

If you like a good old fashion zombie apocalypse book than this is for you. I liked how it explained how everything started. The characters were well developed and enjoyable. I was a little unsure of the narrator at first but by the 2nd book I enjoyed him. This audio book was provided for free at my request in exchange for an honest review.

"Good characters in a familiar setting."
What did you love best about Zed's World?

The author chose great characters to make the centerpiece of this zombie world. They have flaws, are interesting etc. I think the origination of the apocalypse was original. I think the author did just enough in his writing to create something new and original in the world of zombie books.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I think the author did a great job of creating a small group of distinct characters that you want to continue to follow throughout the ordeal.

What does S.W. Salzman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Not my favorite narrator but overall did a decent job.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I have already purchased the next book in the series(sadly not in Audiobook format)
