Publisher's summary

In Wind Rider’s Oath, Bahzell became a wind rider - the first hradani wind rider in history. And, even if Bahzell is the War God’s champion, because the wind riders are the elite of the elite among the Sothoii, Bahzell’s ascension is as likely to stir resentment as respect. What’s more, Baron Tellian’s daughter, the heir to the realm, seems to be thinking that he is the only man - or hradani - for her. Now, War Maid’s Choice continues the story - and things really get complicated.

“... irresistibly entertaining....” (Publishers Weekly)
“...fun adventure full of noble steeds, fierce female fighters, dark sorcery, serious swordplay, and plenty of tongue-in-cheek banter.” (Locus)

David Weber does it again.

Whether it's space opera or fantasy, David Weber is a past master at creating worlds with complete ecologies, political systems, economic systems and cultural underpinnings to hang them on.

Read or listen to the first two or three books in the series before you listen to this though. Otherwise, it probably will not be nearly as enjoyable.

A pure joy to read.

This was the perfect ending to one of the best book series I have ever read and brilliantly narrated as well. I can only hope that maybe one day David Weber will find the time to make room for just one more glorious tale in this wonderful series of books. If not well the series was ended absolutely perfectly.

David Weber is an awesome story teller!!

I truly appreciate a good yarn with characters that become friends that you look forward to seeing what happens in their lives. David Weber delivers when ever he sets his mind to writing a story or series. I look forward to seeing his books in the new release section because I know he delivers.

Well Worth the Time

This sequel continues the series with even more memorable battle scenes. The narrator as usual does an excelent job. He did not distract me with his narration of the book instead he added to my enjoyment of it. Major changes occur and this book is a must read for fans of the series.

Wraps up threads, but is this the end?

I have mixed feelings about this book. It wraps up some questions very well, but leaves some things open ended, so it's hard to tell if this truly the end of Bahzell's story or if there will be another book. I do know the recent Sword of the South takes place in the same universe but I don't know if Bahzell is in it. Overall, I'm pleased with this addition to the series.

Pros: As always Nick Sullivan's voice is wonderful. I like that Mr. Weber had the timeline take place 6 years later, just like it took about 6 years for him to write the book. It gave the relationships between characters and races time to change and grow. Some parts made me tear up for both good and bad reasons, but I don't want to include any spoilers.

Cons: The book dragged in parts and seemed rushed in others. It was an odd combination. This book was definitely longer then the other three and if he was trying to make it longer, I would have preferred the time be spend on more character interactions or battle descriptions instead of scenery descriptions or parts that I completely forgot because nothing happened.

Overdrive

Weber has "run the gears" in books one through three, and now he's racing down the freeway here in book four. The reader also seems very comfortable in his role; together, they're smooth as a luxury sedan doing ninety. This book is not only entertaining, but quite satisfying. Unfortunately, it caps the story nicely, so the author may not get back to this series for years :-(

Great tales

I began reading this series with Sword of the South and discovered it was part of a series. I then searched and found number 1 and read them in order. They are all outstanding books, I have thoroughly enjoyed them. I am anxious to see another in the series. The War Gods own, Wind Riders oath, War Maid's Choice helps to answer many of the questions the Sword of the South raised.
