Publisher's Summary

Tad Williams introduced listeners to the incredible fantasy world of Osten Ard in his internationally best-selling series Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn. The trilogy inspired a generation of modern fantasy writers, including George R. R. Martin, Patrick Rothfuss, and Christopher Paolini and defined Tad Williams as one of the most important fantasy writers of our time.

Book 3: To Green Angel Tower

The evil minions of the undead Sithi Storm King are beginning their final preparations for the kingdom-shattering culmination of their dark sorceries, drawing King Elias ever deeper into their nightmarish, spell-spun world.

As the Storm King's power grows and the boundaries of time begin to blur, the loyal allies of Prince Josua struggle to rally their forces at the Stone of Farewell. There, too, Simon and the surviving members of the League of the Scroll have gathered for a desperate attempt to unravel mysteries from the forgotten past.

For if the League can reclaim these age-old secrets of magic long-buried beneath the dusts of time, they may be able to reveal to Josua and his army the only means of striking down the unslayable foe.

After the landmark Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn trilogy, the epic saga of Osten Ard continues with the brand-new novel The Heart of What Was Lost. Then don't miss the upcoming trilogy The Last King of Osten Ard, beginning with The Witchwood Crown!

"A bit exhausting, but better than most"
    Any additional comments?

I will say I am so split on this series that it is another exhaustion. The story is well thought out and the performance excellent. However, the story pounds on your head with depression and hopelessness, coupled with the overall length of the series and book, that you just feel that you should consult a therapist. It really is too much. I might suggest the first book to anyone, but I would suggest only those with bright lives and brighter personas buying anymore of the series. It really is too much. As a warning to others, I would have rated the story 2 stars, but it is very well put together and unworthy of such a harsh judgement. I will give Mr. Williams another shot with other stories, but I suspect that this style of pathetic life and depression is more his story-telling style, than this specific story.

"Great read, found myself skimming a bit though."

This was a great series. I did enjoy it but I did find that I find myself listening at 2.0x fur parts of it. the was to much back story in my opinion on less that relevant characters. How did that quote go? "Some books should be tasted, some devoured, but only a few should be chewed and digested thoroughly". All that being said however it was worth the purchase and passed many hours that would have otherwise been dull.

    "Epic Fantasy"

My only complaint is that the main character is annoyingly self absorbed. This is a story rich with characters, well performed, and long enough to satisfy hard core epic fantasy lovers.

"I saw the end coming and it made me sad"

This would have been a three star story due to what seems to me to be a contrived ending... the climax was not hinted at well enough for me. I wasn't a fan of certain character motivations. The main character Simon doesn't play as big of a role as I would have liked and some seems with him seemed just a little too creepy for me (not scary... just a little gross). I expected this story to wrap up much like Brandon Sanderson's stories do, and in some ways it did. There are some very strong emotional punches at the end that bring this up to a four star story for me. If you enjoyed book one and two, there is no reason not to finish out the series. You won't regret it.

Once you get past the odd names the story does a good job building the base and the chase begins.

    "compelling story with interesting characters"
What did you love best about To Green Angel Tower?

the story was engaging as you follow along with Sioman and the many characters he encounters, however the most compelling part of the books was the extraordinary skills of the narrator (his mastery of narration brought the characters to life). With unique accents and pronunciations of odd words, names, places and phrases, he makes the authors imagination into a believable real world and language. good job to both of you

Who was your favorite character and why?

Binabick - fortitude, persistence, and pleasantness I am feeling

Have you listened to any of Andrew Wincott’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

no, but have started to look for books he has narrated

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    laugh
