Publisher's Summary
The Night Lords - traitors and killers who use fear as a weapon - face threats from within and without as they struggle to rebuild their Legion and continue to fight the Long War.
Listen to it because:
It's an assured and confident second novel from Aaron Dembski-Bowden that kicks off one of the most acclaimed and beloved series in Black Library history - and it's a chance to see the Long War from the Night Lords' perspective!
The story:
The Night Lords were once among the most potent forces of the Imperium, Space Marines who used fear itself as their weapon. Now, cast adrift from the Emperor's light and hunted as heretics after their monstrous betrayal, the Night Lords clad themselves in symbols of death and fight the Long War, bringing pain and terror to all who worship the corpse-god of Terra.
A summons from Warmaster Abaddon sends these rebels on a dangerous journey that leads inexorably to a conflict with the Emperor's chosen warriors, the Blood Angels.
Written by Aaron Dembski-Bowden. Running time 13 hours and 5 minutes. Narrated by Andrew Wincott.

Beware this audiobook contains heresy
It was an insightful audiobook as I have never really read or listened to any of the traitor legion novels. I enjoyed that it has a lot of backstory and provides information about how the night lords came to be what they are in the 42nd millennium. The narrator also did a great job and overall I’d recommend it to someone like myself that doesn’t know much of the traitor legions.

A great listen
I read the original book several years ago and it was absolutely wonderful. The concepts of the characters very experience of woe, corruption, honor, and comradery kept me with the book all the way through. This performance is wonderful for my tastes. It's very much in the throat for the majority of the time which brings a nice sense of expressed dread from the tonation which fits with the general chapter theme.

Not Just A Great 40k Novel
This isn't just the best 40k series I've read. This is the best book series I've ever read. That's right "read". This will be the first audio book I've purchased of a real life book I already own. That's how good it is.
Hands down the best sympathetic depiction of villains I've ever read. This is the first of three, and I really hope they bring the other two out as well. I can't say enough good about it. Get it if you have any interest at all.

Loved it
Aaron Dembski-Bowden has become one of my favourite authors in recent years. To many writers spend too much time describing a rock a character walks past because they lack the ability to make a story flow. Aaron has no such problem. All of the books of his I have read or listened too had just the right amount of detail and the right amount of action and character building in them to make his books stand out from the crowd.
Soul Hunter is no exception, i consider this book to be one of his best works, out of all the ones I have heard so far. A stunning page turner for those who are reading it.
And unlike certain other popular GW Authors, his book titles tend to be accurate too and dont involve filing clerks visiting prospero.
Definitely worth a buy.

Finally something that gives an accurate representation of Chaos. No incompetent Chaos marines here that act like canon fodder for loyalist space marines. That aside it's a great story. Dark, violent and visually stimulating. Everything you want from a 40K book.

Interesting
Loved the voice actor. If I were to summarize the story and setting with one word it would be: "cool as fuck"
The book doesn't give long winded descriptions about the material composition of the fecal matter staining the walls like the horus heresy books. It was always easy to imagine the scenes playing out in my head.

My first audio book & my first step into 40k lore.
The narrative is a bit episodic and at times it feels as though there's no 'point' to the story. In the end I just felt as though a bunch of stuff happened and we're left in roughly the same place we started. Regardless, the journey to circle back was enjoyable. I hope the next two books are a little more... not necessarily linear, but I'd like to go from A to B, not A to A.5
The voice work was wonderful. Even though, at no fault of the narrator, several voices were quite similar and therefore hard to tell apart at times. I greatly appreciate the hints of personality used to differentiate between the main Trio, who frequently speak adjacent to one another.

A new take on a favourite
this is my 4th copy of this title and hearing it being read out lends it a brand new dimension. I wasn't expecting the accents used for the Night Lords characters, but they work perfectly and capture their essence well. The story is great and if you're a fledgling chaos cultist or new to Warhammer 40k, I cannot recommend this enough as a brilliant addition to your hobby

Ave Dominus Nox
ADB is so good at bringing chaos marines to believable life, you end up rooting for them like crazy. It's fun to be bad.

Surprisingly good writing!
This book was a great introduction into a very detailed and fantastical world of fictional war and drama. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and Andrew Wincott is a fantastic performer, I think even if I didn't enjoy the story I could see it though because Andrew is such a methodical narrator with a wonderful tone of voice. 5 stars all round!
