About this listen

For more than a century, The Wind in the Willows and its endearing protagonists have enchanted children of all ages. Whether the four friends are setting forth on an exciting adventure, engaging in a comic caper, or simply relaxing by the River Thames, their stories are among the most charming in all English literature. Alternately slow-moving and fast-paced, the novel is notable for its mixture of mysticism, adventure, morality, and camaraderie and is celebrated for its evocation of the pastoral nature of the Thames valley.

This is definitely a children’s story but if you need a little light hearted diversion that doesn’t demand a lot of focus, this is a good choice.

Great for what it is

I was introduced to Andrew Wincott via his wonderful turn as the devil Raphael in BG3, so I couldn't resist checking out his portrayal of these very different characters in one of my favorite stories. Wonderful again! A fantastic voice actor and a story teller par excellence.

Delightful

I loved this book because they fight the stoats and weasels in the end. (G. B., age 5)

First time hearing the story, really enjoyed it. As an adult I found the story very detailed and emotionally engaging. I was surprised to hear some swear words- nothing wrong by it for an adult or teen listener- but if I had a child 11yrs and younger maybe not okay with it. Other than that it didn’t detract from the story or wasn’t vulgar. Also I understand the ride at Disneyland much better thanks to the story!

The accent really added the richness to the story telling. Also calming to listen too.

The story is adorable and entertaining, and the narrator's voice is like sweet honey to my ears. I love putting this on while I draw, walk home from work, or on nights then neighbors are too loud or my brain is too restless. It's very calming and, in my opinion, worth every penny.

Wonderful story, pleasant narrator

Spectacular narration. I could listen to it over and over and not get bored. This story is full of wisdom that only becomes clear as I now listen as an adult.

Spectacular narration of a timeless classic
