Publisher's Summary

Fresh off their victory over Graves and his followers, Marcus and his friends have managed to enjoy a few weeks of relative calm and peace as they continue to build Aldford, preparing the town for a new wave of settlers coming from Eberia. But as the days wear on with no new arrivals in sight, they begin to fear the worse, eventually setting out to search for their promised reinforcements and soon realizing that they weren’t as alone on the frontier as they thought they were.

Just managing to rescue a caravan of settlers in the nick of time from a horde of bandits, Marcus and the rest of Virtus barely have a chance to catch their breath before they find themselves thrust into the middle of Eberian politics, revealing a plot that threatens not only to take away their hard-won independence...but to destroy Aldford completely.

Great series

The combining of the characters from both books looks like it's about to make a great series even better. Can't wait for more.

Too much fighting and too little story!

A good book but felt like they just jumped from fight to fight.. So not enough time left for character development and story progress..
Ended up jumping over several fights as they become boring and I wanted to get on with the overall story.

Meh

Main protagonist is fairly annoying. Whines too much and doesn’t seem to know what’s going on most of the time. He survives on dumb luck alone. All the other characters are great though. Fully fleshed out and a contrast to the main protagonist.

Performance is as expected, awesome.

Characters could be better

I liked the game world and overall story. I found the main character unlikable. the game system doesn't seem thought out and the fact that blink step is a level 10 ability bugs the hell out of me. spellblades are majorly op... but there are only 2 in the book so far..

<br />My fav lit mmorpg

First the performer of this books is amazing, he brings it to life. The story is pretty easy to follow, and you feel attached to the town during the book.

cannot regen + 100 mana per second = zero

that regen really bothers me our main character has gone down a path that has limited him to only mana drain as a source of mana; however, the author gives him a magical zone wide buff to regen which should not effect him.

also the authors seems to expect us to remember random characters by name from way earlier in the story that were only mentioned in a single sentence.

i really wish the author would have revisited the AI good/evil gods conflict from book 1.

finally with these guys only being ranked like 900 in views online there must be some crazy stuff going on in this universe… but these guys keep getting credit for doing things first.

more plot, less play by play

I really don't want to hear about crafting for multiple minutes, and the story is a minute by minute account of EVERYTHING. not to mention, why did I even read the 2nd book... no really, what did the 2nd book give me that 3 paragraphs didn't cover in this book. when you right a rough draft, you then go back and edit it down, removing unneeded bits, please do this!

Edge of your seat!

This was a brilliantly well paced story. The Characters are further developed and balanced giving them a depth that is often lacking in this genre. The battles are frequent and action packed. and Luke Daniels does a truly brilliant job on his narration.

What a ride

Solid sequel. Lots of settlement building elements, very light on character development, RPG components and leveling but an awesome read and a fitting sequel!
