Tired of listening to stories about humans? Consider the werewolf! Taking various forms over the course of centuries and mythologies, often as flesh-devourers, werewolves now commonly appear in fantasy and romance novels as shape-shifters. The shape-shifting element in werewolves' stories has almost humanized them, depicting the internal struggles we all face within ourselves, on some level or another.

There are no words to express how much I loved this book!

I have adored every Mercy book, but this one was the best one yet. It was absolutely fantastic. Patricia Briggs is an amazingly talented author. You really can't go wrong with a Patricia Briggs book.
The narrator, Lorelei King is one of the best narrators I have ever listened to. She preformed this book so beautifully. She can do the snarky, sexy, funny, touching, and gut wrenching roles this book calls for incredibly well. Plus she does a sexy male voice that is like chocolate melting on the tip of your tongue! This is an incredible blend of amazing author and narrator that makes the audiobook version so...well there are no words.
Happy listening!

Another Awesome Mercy adventure!!

This was another awesome addition to the Mercy Thompson series! I can never get tired of these stories, they are full of action, suspense, magic, and lots of "pack politics." I love how Adam and Mercy work together as a team, they are the perfect Alpha leaders. We are introduced to new and interesting characters.

As usual, The Gray Lords are up to their games, and Mercy and the pack find themselves in the middle of the Fae conflict, but they will not back down. They have declared to protect their territory and the boy who escaped from the Fae.

If you are a Mercy Thompson Fan, you will definitely want to add this story to your collection.

This story was well worth the credit, and the time spent listening to the story.

The weakest from the series

Its not bad but also not too good. I never felt that the story really took off. It felt like the whole book was made from the introduction and then the end. No middle , no main story. It's too bad because I really waited for this book.

War? Peace? Warewolf vs. Faye

This ninth installment is very well done. A plot that keeps you listening. This is a tough one to put down. There are parts of this book you will want to rewind and listen to several times in a good way. Mercedes and Adam take center stage as everyone clashes. We get to see many of our favorites as this story unfolds. Brigss finds a way to weave important contemporary messages into this supernatural narrative -- in a subtle way.

This story has a hint of romance, but is mostly action. It is fast paced and doesn't stall anywhere. Those who like supernatural will enjoy this. You will miss a great deal if you don't listen to the earlier novels. You can read this first, but you might be lost because of the many characters and the nuances as Briggs relies on the backstories of the past. Kings narration is superb.

I highly recommend this novel. I am anxious to listen to the next installment. Thumbs up and give it a read.

Not as good as others

I must admit, I have enjoyed the whole Mercy Thompson series, as well as Alpha and Omega.

When this book came out I bought it but the story seems a little weak and there was a lot more conversation by Mercy and a lot less humor. I was a little disappointed. Having said that I listen to it all the way to the end and will look forward to the next book… I think we have new characters to look forward to.

Huge dissapointment

I have loved every single book from mercy Thompson Series and I am just wondering what happen with this one. The entire book could be summarized in just a few chapters. Boring, boring and boring. You are expecting after few chapters that story might pick up and get little bit more interesting but never did. I just could not go past few chapters.

Nudge

Any additional comments?

I have thoroughly enjoyed this whole series. My one complaint is that several of the characters were missing their usual voices. Lorelei King is an awesome narrator who brings depth and interest to each of the characters, both male and female. The voices and accents have been consistent through the whole series until this book, where they suddenly were forgotten. If you haven't followed the whole series, you may not notice but it is disconcerting when a certain characters suddenly have different voices and therefor personalities. Hence 4 stars instead of 5. I am still looking forward to the next book in the series.

Disappointing

I am honestly disappointed by one of my favorite authors. I hated that I used a credit for this. Mercy is usually one of my favorite heroines. She managed to appear weak and boring in this, the worst of the series. My dad called it a filler book "to introduce new plot ideas and characters." Whatever it was, made it terribly difficult to get through. There were several potential plot twists that fizzled weakly into nothing instead of some of her bigger climaxes. To be fair, this is the first I have listened to (as opposed to reading in paperback format). So maybe readers ridiculous attempt at performance that lead to this extreme disappointment. I will not spend money on the next one, though I might borrow it or buy it second hand until she proves me wrong again. I will try to skip King altogether though. She is definitely no Mercy.

Briggs and King are an awesome team!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fantasy, mystery, sci-fi or drama. This will make you laugh and cry and feel joy and pain. True storytellers make everything better.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Mercy is my favorite character but all of the characters are wonderfully made.

What does Lorelei King bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her voices of the different characters bring them to life and help you see them clearly.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes, it made me laugh and cry. All of the books in this series have that effect on me.

Any additional comments?

Any of the books in this series are great but if you start with Moon Called you can see the development of all the characters from the start. I love this series and this book is a gem.

Not As Good As Previous Books

Would you try another book from Patricia Briggs and/or Lorelei King?

Yes

If you’ve listened to books by Patricia Briggs before, how does this one compare?

There was a lot of filler and not much going on. We had a bunch of communication till the end and then it fiizzled out

What about Lorelei King’s performance did you like?

Always good

Did Fire Touched inspire you to do anything?

No

Any additional comments?

Hate to say it, and give it 3 stars, but I didn't enjoy this one as much as the last book. There seemed to be so much filler and not much going on in way of story. It started off with bang and then fizzled into a bunch of back and forth communications, add reminiscing, plenty of ruminating (I usually don't mind Mercy's, as much as some other series characters) to a disappointingly, dull end.
Oh well, I won't give up on Mercy, I'll just take another break
