Publisher's Summary

Everyone needs help occasionally - even supers with amazing powers - and Jim (aka Kid Sensation) is no exception. Having previously received aid from a young psychic named Rudi, Jim feels obligated to return to the favor and rescue her from the federal facility where she's being held.

But breaking into a top-secret, heavily-fortified government installation is never a walk in the park, especially when said installation has top-of-the-line security systems, trigger-happy guards, and its own team of formidable supers. It will take a bold and audacious plan to get Jim - and the friends who volunteer to help him - inside.

Unfortunately, breaking in is only half the problem (and the easy half, at that); they also have to break back out...

Sensation, book 2.5

Whoot, we finally get to see the Kid keep a promise that he made a loooong time ago early on in the series. It was most satisfying to finally see this cometo fruition, it was one I had been hoping to see, and since I have run through the entire KS series this was an excellent cherry on the top. This recalls events that comes early on in the series, so you might not want to read in until after the first two books just to be safe. You can read it as a stand alone, it works quite well as that in fact, but if you want to dive into the whole series (something I very much suggest that you do) then you want to wait just a little while. Hardman really keeps this fast paced, as it is a short story, and lets you see the Kid do some real thinking and planning before he pulls his job. You have to remember that his powers standout, and if he uses them he will be recognized, and this is a very covert op. So, he basically has to figure out how to save someone without using all of his abilities so that he isn't recognized. This makes for a smart fast paced series of events that all occur on a specific timeline. Can the Kid keep his promise?

Hardman really has nailed down the way to write a superhero story, and he keeps turning in some winning storylines. He really needs to option this as a film, it would rock anything DC made, and give Marvel a run for its money. Master narrator Mikael Naramore is all in, as he has been with this series since the beginning, his professional skills are par excellence and need no more to be said other than his work is always top shelf. Even though I did receive a promo code for this review it in no way influenced my considerations of the material, and in fact, inspired me to be more honest. In fact, getting a code generally makes me harsher as a reviewer as I am more often concerned what someone like Me will decide based on my review.

Great in between

Now that said I finished this book in one setting. It’s a good story while we wait for Kid to come back to earth. Their are a few references to this story throughout he other books and I am grateful for the chance to listen to this one. Despite the number of powers he has Kid just does not seem over powered.

Superpowers to the Rescue

More of a vignette or adventure than a full story, this is an interesting introduction to the universe it's set in. Well read, interestingly written but it does leave you with questions and wanting more ... which is exactly the point when you're writing a series I guess.
Short and sweet with non-stop action.

short but good

Like with the rest of the series, this is a well executed super hero story. It is an inbetween book, released after the book it comes before, which I found odd, but that's neither here nor there. All in all, if you like super hero stories, and want a quick dose of the Kid Sensation world, this is worth checking out.

Fun Superhero Story

This was a fun, short superhero story. Overall I enjoyed it. The narration was good, the story and characters interesting. The big problem for me was that I haven't read any of the preceding books, and so there were a number of references to earlier events and characters that I had no point of reference for. Despite that I was able to appreciate and enjoy 'Extraction' on its own merits. Without knowing more about the character, Kid Sensation seems a bit overpowered. Although the circumstances in 'Extraction' required him to hold back, knowing that he was holding back undermined the sense of danger a bit. Based on this story alone, I am certainly interested in checking out the other main books.

As for narration, Mikael Naramore does a fine job, and he seems well suited to the role.

Kid sensation and crew are back

This one is short but very revealing in some back story for both characters and groups in the kid sensation series. I don’t recommend this as a stand-alone read at all. If you aren’t familiar you will miss a lot. That being said. Go buy this one and the rest of the series! It’s a really good series! Think Sky high with more grit. A short action story to fill the spaces!

I received a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

I've listened to several of the Kid Sensation Stories and have always enjoyed them. This one is a short filler story to go in between #2 and #3. It was a story of a rescue and the story was mostly action. I gave it 4 stars overall rather than five only because I am not much of an action fan. I got a bit bored with the rescue plan discussion and would have liked more of the superpowers and character interaction. But that's my personal opinion. I think any fan of this series would find this one to follow suit!

ties up a loose plot from book 2

Extraction is a quick action story set between books 2 and 3 of the series. In it Kid Sensation rescues Rudi form the government, returning the favour of her helping him in book 2. Going up against the government actually puts Kid Sensation outside the law here, and a couple of his superhero friends join him in the adventure.

The story is quick and entertaining. A fun story for kid Sensation and super pals to show off their powers. It doesn't add a huge amount to the overall story, although Rudi will likely come back again later to play a part in the overall story. Worth the time, but not essential.

Narration by Mikael Naramore is good, as with all the books in the series.

Great Short

Even if you have not started this from the 1st audio in the series, it could be a standalone. It's short but filled with action and amusing characters. I enjoyed it enough that I went ahead and got books 1 thru 3 already.
Of course one of my favorite narrator's, Mr. Naramore gave an excellent performance.

Fast Paced like our Superhero

He's back and our favourite superhero is out to make good on his promises.
This one is far too short but it's what we have come to expect if more condensed into such a short story.
Narration as usual is great and my only complaint is the length but oh well.
I requested this audio and have left my thoughts on this.
