Best combination of Syfy with Fantacy

i like Hatch, but he is predictable. I keep coming back to these books to hear more about Larse and hopefully - his family. I imagine him being key to aligning his species and the Federation in establishing a Species-Collaboration in their universe.

Another great effort!

Another great effort from authors Sarah Noffke, J.N. Chaney, Michael Anderl & narrator Chris Abernathy My second read from the collaborative efforts of authors Sarah Noffke, J.N. Chaney & Michael Anderle. In the beginning, the pace slows down but the tension ramps up only to speed up again. Well-written with well-developed, memorable characters. An exciting, enjoyable read. Narrator Chris Abernathy again adds greatly to the book’s enjoyment. I can’t wait for Ghost Squadron #3.

Narrator has limited voices

Overall, I enjoyed the story. Lots of action and fun characters. But the narrator only seems to have two voices - a gravelly voice, with different levels of gravel, and his natural voice. He uses his natural voice for the narrative and the female characters, but all the male characters get different levels of gravel that aren't even consistent for each character. I dislike a gravelly voice to begin with, I think it is unpleasant to listen to, but the inconsistent usage also makes telling who is speaking extremely difficult.

Each of these separate series are supposed to be self contained within the series without needing to have read any of the other series. They are somewhat, but it is quite obvious that the reader is missing a lot of background information. That won't stop me from reading the rest of this series, but it provides incentive to start at the beginning of the Age of Expansion arc at the very least.

A fun Kurtherian space opera

Exploration is an entertaining space opera that is part of the Kurtherian universe. It is a fun story- think Star Trek with cursing. This is the second book in the series, and while it's better if you read the first book first, you can enjoy this book independently as well. The narrator of the audiobook does a pretty good job, even though he can't pull off a female voice. His narration brings out the humor in the story.

Summary:
They have down it again. I love the interaction between Edward (Blackbeard) and Julianna (Strongarm) as they along with their teammates to protect humans against others who would hurt or destroy them. Eddie’s irreverent almost comical behavior at first seems at odds with his superman like belief in protecting other, but the they combine into a fascinating character who leads the plot as it unfolds. Don’t forget Lars who joined the crew when he turned against the Brotherhood to help them thus making a place for himself in the crew. Not to forget PIP, an EI and the rest of the unique crew rounding out this fun sci-fi book and series.

Blackbeard and Strongarm

What a fun, entertaining book! I love Sarah Noffke's books and was eager to see what she would do with a sci-fi series. I haven't been disappointed!

Edward Teach (Blackbeard) and Juliana (Strongarm) are in search of more team members to add to the Ghost Squadron in order to battle bad guys and save the universe! Lots of quick and witty repartee, tons of action and wonderful world building abound! Adventure, aliens, distant worlds, a genetically enhanced human, AI, card games and drinks.....need I say more?

The Squadron is still in search of the villainous Vas and enlist the help of a linguist/communications officer and a computer hacker to find and stop him. And, now we have a pet/mascot, Harley! But, where's the cat? Lars and Hatch are still an important part of the group, as well as Pip and Archangel. I feel like I am a part of their little group and look forward to continuing this series!

The narrator does a great job and his work really adds a lot to the enjoyment of the book.

Fun, action packed story

The humor, adventure and building of the Ghost Squadron continue with relish in this second audiobook in the series. I love the camaraderie, sarcasm and excitement of this story. The mission and world becomes more complex and enthralling as our intrepid adventurers try to find the weapon and the mastermind behind the plot to destroy the federation. I love seeing the characters develop in depth and how the introduction of new squad members changes the team. The different personalities and talents, the breath of species and the development of the AI’s is great. The narrator did a good job of the characters, making each individual and identifiable. I really enjoy this action packed, humorous, fast paced story and will look forward to the next in the series.

Funny and Entertaining

The Ghost Squadron has new needs and therefore more members are required. Their new mission is finding Vas and the truth about a powerful weapon that could bring the Federation to its knees.

This was another exciting and fast-paced story. We meet again the same characters as in the previous book, but there are also new additions. They all have different personalities and different quirks, but one thing is for sure: there will not be a moment of respite… except for when they take a break and enjoy some strong drinks.

The mood is again a light one, courtesy of Eddie, and the never-ending banter among the crew, but will not impede the evolution of some of the characters. I especially enjoyed Pip’s remarks and his contributions to the team.

It was a funny and entertaining listen but I missed some more character development, which would have allowed me to connect better to the characters. I think this book may work great for those in search of adventures and a light read, but for those who like the stories focused on the characters, there are some things lacking.

Chris Abernathy’s narration is perfect for this series. His casual style matches the lightness of the story, even though there are very serious things at stake here. I am glad that we see less of General Lance Reynolds, since Abernathy’s screaming when interpreting the General was a bit too irritating for me. For the rest, the character’s interpretations were spot on, and they all were distinguishable and brought to life thanks to Abernathy’s talent.

Glad I ventured out of my comfort zone.

I’m learning to love audiobooks. It’s great at night, long car rides and hospital visits. Sarah Noffke is a great author. And her books in audio format is a winner.
