Now Rated “R” listener beware

This book was awesome! I may have laughed and enjoyed this one then all the past great books in Craig’s series. I will purchase and continue raving about this author. But... The intensity of language has gone up to a new level. I cannot listen to this audiobook in the car with my young children. I only caution adults to be aware of your audience.

This series is now my all time favorite SiFi. I am also a responsible father. Make your own call and have fun.

The only interesting characters are the aliens

I have been eagerly waiting for, and quickly buying, all of the Mr Alanson's main Expeditionary Force books, but skipped Trouble in Paradise since it involved characters that were not part of the main series. I decided to try Deathtrap based on the reviews and have to say that I was truly disappointed. The characters feel shallow, the story pedestrian and I found I did not really care what happened to the humans in the story. The only characters I found interesting were the aliens.

The story seems to be missing the zing and immediacy of the regular Expeditionary Force books and the only reasons I ended up finishing it were R C Bray's amazing narration and my interest in what happened to Jakes, Nert Dander and even the alien ship captains. It seems like a sad comment when the only interesting characters are the aliens.

I will continue to buy the main Expeditionary Force books but expect to give this series a pass. As always, your mileage may vary.

Better than Renegades

I wasn’t too sure i cared about the side story of the Mavericks at the start but their story just keeps getting better and better. I felt renegades was rushed with not enough detail of new worlds and character development. With Mavericks I never tuned out. Very fun book!

Another amazing book in the Craig Alanson universe! Was nervous about not having skippy for banter, but was very pleased with the new banter and amazing story!
