Return to the enchanting world of Pern in the conclusion of Anne McCaffrey’s bestselling Harper Hall Trilogy.

Dragondrums is the spellbinding tale of Piemur, a mischievous young singer who makes an incredible journey to the dark, uncharted realms of Pern. Piemur’s remarkable singing voice has earned him an honored place in Harper Hall, the home of the world’s master musicians. When his voice suddenly changes, he fears his time among the Harpers has ended. But the Masterharper has a special assignment for the singer. On a daring mission to the mysterious Southern Continent, Piemur searches for the secrets of the Old-timers—and his own role in Harper Hall’s future.

Enthralling story

Where does Dragondrums rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I would say it's average. I've listened to some great ones!

What did you like best about this story?

Anne McCaffrey's world-building is brilliant. She is truly a master. Also, even though this is the third book in the series, it really stands on its own as a story and I could easily see someone reading and enjoying it who knew very little about Pern at all.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I really feel as though Sally Darling's voice isn't appropriate for these books. It feels like your grandmother is sitting down to read you a story, which might be great in some cases, but these books are just too cool for that to be effective.

Dragon Dreams

This is another favorite author of mine from my adolescence. I am rereading them with my ears and finding them more enjoyable than ever. The wonderful tales thread together to create a world of dragons. Yet the story is still a story of human relations, charactors, emotions, life and society. In each book we can find our selves and those we know.

Loved it!

I love PERN and it's dragons! I am glad Anne McCaffery shared it with us! This is what you would call a coming of age story. There is a little sex, but not blatant. So it is up to each family.

Such a wonderful tale of sheer youthful adventure!

Have loved this series since I found it many years ago and now older I enjoy having them narrated to me as I go about my day having dragons and fire lizards peeking at me from around corners of my house! And the fearful threat of the silvery threads but only to be protected by those same dragons and soothed by the Harper hall music… thank you Anne McCaffery for your wonderfully wrought stories shared from your vivid imagination! Ahh now to find a portal to Pern!
