The five Pepper children - Ben, Polly, Dave, Joel, and Phronsie - have secret plans to surprise their mother on her birthday. But how can they make those plans come true without any money? Ever since Mr. Pepper died, the Peppers have been so poor that they can’t even afford Christmas. Through all their misadventures, however, the Peppers are rich in love. From measles to monkeys, from brown bread to birthday cakes, their little house always rings with laughter and hope. Then, just when terrible tragedy nearly strikes the five little Peppers, a mysterious boy named Jasper King stumbles into their lives. Can good fortune be coming soon? Since it first appeared in 1880, Five Little Peppers and How They Grew has become a beloved children’s classic, winning the hearts of children around the world. Now, narrator Sally Darling captures all the warmth, charm, and innocence of this delightful story for a new generation of children.

Don’t like the way the narrator does Phronsie’s voice. story is very good. it is very old fashioned. They say ‘‘twas and twaint.
It’s good for kids who like less modern style of writing.
I liked it a little bit

Quite enjoyable. Read in a beautifully old fashioned way, with the same intonation my mother used to use when reading to us as kids. .

This is what stories for children should be like, wholesome, good & kind. It’s a great example of the Golden Rule “Do unto others as you would have then do unto you”…we need more kindness & love in the world today, especially w/the world’s nations undergoing such terrible changes including racism & hatred being supported in even the most “progressive” countries. Without a foundation of loving kindness & morality we end up in the state we’re currently in with a buffoon for leader leading a bunch of other racist blowhards who think bc they have an endless supply of cash they can turn our country into a cesspit.

Wholesomeness

I am 61 and have been reading this book series since I was 10 years old
This was narrated so very well!!
Even after all these years- or maybe because they are like dear friends - I still am touched to the point of tears.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I remember reading this book as a ten year old. I wonder if that edition had been edited?? I find this version much in need of a good editor.

Would you recommend Five Little Peppers and How They Grew to your friends? Why or why not?

Questionable.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

Seems cumbersome. A ten year old might take a different opinion.

Must be Unedited version.
