Publisher's Summary

In the thrilling conclusion to the Legacy of Dragons trilogy, ancient weapons of mass destruction lie hidden under the city of Pacta Servanda. Remnants of the Great Guilds and rebellious factions of the Empire want to seize those weapons to allow them to regain control of the world of Dematr. Only Jason, brought by the first ship from Earth since the colony failed, might be able to disarm the threat. But he also might know how to employ those weapons, making him a danger for all sides.

Standing between those threats is Kira of Dematr. But Kira, who inexplicably has been able to manifest Mage powers as well as technical skills, finds herself being consumed by the mental conflicts between those powers and skills. As rogue Mechanics, Mages, and mercenaries attack with every weapon at their disposal, Kira suffers more blackouts and begins to lose her mind. The fate of her world rests on whether she can stay alive and find answers in time to problems that no one else has ever confronted.

Extremely Disapoointed

What disappointed you about Destiny of Dragons?

I loved the first series of books, and while slightly let down with the start of the second series, was optimistic. That said, this book completely turned me off the series. What once was a series with intrigue and suspense, is now a tale of a whinny teenage girl and the struggles of her trying to sleep with her teenage boyfriend. MacLeod does what he can to be compelling and is always a great listen, but listening to him ask the question "are you sure you want to be with me" approximately 45 time in the first 3 chapters was enough for me to delete it from my library.

Have you listened to any of MacLeod Andrews’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

He's always spot on, and in this case was the only positive of the book.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Destiny of Dragons?

Any mention of her referencing Jason as "my man" and the plethora of time wasted discussing their relationship.

Destiny of Dragons

I hope this isn't the last of this series because they are some of my favorites.
I can listen to them over and over again and enjoy them every time. The narrator is enjoyable to listen to as well. -Rena

Excellent!

This was a good ending to the trilogy and a great hint at possible future series. Some parts were quite hard to listen to, but I’m glad I hung in there. The end was worth it.

Worth the wait

Would you listen to Destiny of Dragons again? Why?

The previous books in this series of series: revisiting them with a re-listen has been enjoyable. Will likely listen again after reading a few dozen other books.

What other book might you compare Destiny of Dragons to and why?

Flanagan's Ranger books, McCaffrey Dragon Riders, HarperHall as sequence of deadly challenges books. Wrede Far West; Delaney Last Apprentice esp. I Am Alice for the female focus (perhaps with a touch of Tamara Pierce's Alanna). The stories flow like MacHale Pendragon books - action.

Any additional comments?

I know the maturing relationship of these soon to be 18 year olds is central (and refreshing), but I could have done with a few less "I don't deserve your love" speeches.

Romantic work of science fantasy

Kierra was a strong wonder woman. And her mother was also strong feminine figure. Altering the story Jason her boyfriend was treated passively aggressively by Kierra. You would think at the end of the story her attitude towards him may have changed because it saved Her life countless times. No, same same. It is not a really predictable story and it has twist And turns to keep you interested. I don’t want to spoil the ending but it has a good ending. ENJOY

Awesome story

I enjoyed listening to this story and the series. It is thrilling to see Jason and Kira finally work out the problems that plague them. The way earth is toward this planet and Jason is very interesting. I hope you enjoy this book. as much as I have.

Well rounded story

It was a well rounded and interesting story. I stayed up way too late listening to it. The reader did distinction voices for all the characters. The book was different from the others but this fit and explains questions from other books. I want more! What happens next!!

Destiny of a Whining Teenage Girl!

Goodness me. Keira just shut up! She’s really quite annoying. Thankfully she, thanks to Jason; understands what she has to do and all is well!! I’d sussed it out as soon as she blacked out .... but then I’m no longer a teenager, and I have the ability to listen to others. Thankfully as it’s my profession. However MacLeod Andrews is, his usual wonderful self. Thank you. Jack has written another wonderful book. Regardless of the annoying main character. Hopefully there’ll be more. Overall a fabulously good listen. Made wonderful by the exceptional narrator.
