Now that she knows what life is really like on the other side of the wall, she must decide which path to take. Trouble is, there isn’t one single person to blame for the way life in America is now, and instead of confronting a foe, she must root out the evil in the system piece by piece, law by insidious law. To do this, Riley will need the help of the Volunteers. But rebuilding her crew from scratch will not be an easy task, and taking on the government will require a team of specialized allies.

In the future, mankind has learned to manipulate their DNA, harnessing only the good genes, like intelligence, strength, and height. They called this prime DNA and humans rushed to get these new pDNA injections, which gave them superhuman-like qualities. Centuries later, however, their DNA became so engineered that humans rarely lived past the age of 30, thanks to a new deadly disease called the Kiss. The only cure is to receive an injection of oDNA, DNA from an Original human that hasn't been genetically altered. Problem is there aren't many Originals left.

Wonderful creative dystopian
Wow!! Ok, I loved this book! First off, with so many dystopian books out there it can be hard to find something super unique, but this book was so different and creative, while still incorporating so many of the beautiful aspects I love in dystopian books regarding governments, waring nations, and resources. The plot was totally plausible and forces the listener to really think about todays world and choices that could or should be made. The characters were completely believable and relatable. I loved Riley and her personality and growth. The writing was really spectacular and I commend the author for her ability to show not tell, and lead the reader through the story so effortlessly. The story had such an easy flow while being packed with action and excitement. I can’t wait to get my hands on book two!

Good easy listen
Not even finished this book yet but I know I will be getting the rest of the Lens series. The narrator is excellent at setting the mood and bringing to life the authors characters, I can see this is one series that I will be sad when it ends and will listen again many times in the future. It says it is aimed at teens and young adults but I am in my 50's and absolutely recommend it for older adults too.
