Love it, except...
These stories are super entertaining and I love almost everything about them. That said, the phrase "Little Girl" and how it's used just gives me so many heebie jeebies. Not a deal breaker though.

Bllod and Magick: Adults Only
This is another in the Deacon Chalk series. It is well-written and packed full of action. It is short (8 hours or so) but it is the perfect size for the story told. The characters are well developed for what is clearly an action oriented series. The narrarators voice is perfect for Deacon. He doesn't have a lot of range, but does a good job and his performance of the main character makes up for the other weakness.
One thing to note is this one is a lot more adult oriented than the previous books. There is a good bit of swearing and some way too explict sex in the novel. Sure it fit the story, but he goes harlequin/porn for a bit there and it honestly felt forced and out of place in the story. You defnitiely do not want to listen to this one with the kids around.
Other than that this is a good book in a series that is evolving with each novel. If you are looking for a well written action/urban fantasy novel this one is definitely worth a credit.

Brutal and blunt
Deacon is brutal he's blunt and he doesn't brook much b.s. That said his world is as brutal as he is so there isn't much else he can do and stay alive. He's got a scared over heart where his dead family resides and slowly he's finding his way through some of the pain.
This is nowhere near my normal fair but I like the characters enough to stick with them.
In this book he's moving Deacon in a bit of a different direction towards the end.
He keeps losing so much but keeps moving.
Jim Beaver is so perfect for Deacon and he does a wonderful job.
