"The d6 collections just keep getting better!"

I may honestly like the C&C short stories more than the actual novels in the series. These are just the sorts of silly, snack sized adventures that feel the most like gamers blundering around in a game world. Jonathan Sleep's narration continues to be amazing. Now I've got through these I'll be anxiously awaiting CF4 and 4d6!

    "Excellent as always "

Robert Bevan gives another funny and exciting adventure with the Caverns and Creatures crew. I really enjoy his work and this is just as good as all the the other books in the series. Consistently good as always.

The worst thing about Bevan's stories, is the wait for the next ones. Perfect, laugh out loud, low brow escapism.

    "Brilliant!"

A masterwork of humor, entendre, creative misunderstanding, and equine abuse! Everything you have come to love in Mr. Bevan's stories and Mr. Sleep's narration. Kudos, gentlemen. You have done it again.

    "Hilarious as always."

Maybe not Robert Bevan's best "Cavern and Creatures" short stories - but this is still great fun and worth the wait. Crude, Amusing and more immature fun thumbing its nose at cliche' fantasy novels.

Blind listener reading everything, especially mystery/thrillers and sf&f. Restricted to audio so picky where credits spent. #BooksRule

    "Not For Everyone, But..."

If you like juvenile humor, adolescent innuendo, laugh inducing entendre you'll love it as I did... Very Southparkish in flavor and punch lines... I laughed out loud often, and the narrator definitely added to the comedy w/ the voices... If you want thoughtful dialogue, high adventure, and thrilling plotlines you'll wanna pass... If you want a lotta good and guilty laughs... And are in touch w/ your inside teenage dork you'll thank me... These shorts really add nicely to the full length Caverns and Creatures novels... I think they might be the best in this particular lil sub genre...

    "great short stories!"

Fun short adventures the whole way through. I can't wait for more of these or the fifth book to the main series.

"I've run adventures like this dozens of times."
What made the experience of listening to 3d6 the most enjoyable?

    1. Vulgar potty humor and a touch of sincerity work surprisingly well together.
    2. I used to be a pretty big D&D nerd. Until I had kids, I was basically a much thinner Mordred without the magic dice and cape (I preferred a cloak) . Bevin very nearly has the 3rd edition rules spot on. I appreciate that. It shows he loves the game as much as I do.
    .

What other book might you compare 3d6 to and why?

None. I've never read another book like this. The best comparison I can think of is that It's like all the grossest jokes I heard from 3rd grade through junior high took my 3rd edition Players Handbook to prom. Nine months later the Critical Failures series was born.

What does Jonathan Sleep bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Sleep's delivery is different than my internal narrator. Don't get me wrong, my internal narrator is good, but so is Sleep. When I read the book, I hear my version. When I listen to the book, I get to hear both.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I experienced sudden bursts of laughter followed by acute embarrassment. Worth it.

    Any additional comments?

We just got Critical Failures IV on Audible, but Critical Failures V is already in print, and 4d6 has been out for nearly a year. What's the hold up on the audio versions? I want to give you my money!
