Stilted narrative?

Story good, but narration was often off-putting. The story itself, although a good read, was not as good as many of Jackson’s others since it seemed pretty cut/and dried as to who the killer was and why.

Kept me guessing!

The story had me guessing from the beginning. I thought the story was a well woven tale!

pretty cheesy

the mystery behind the murder was interesting enough, but the dialog between characters didn't seem natural. Especially Shelby's. I also did not understand her being so intent to stay away from Nevada. He never pushed her away or rejected her, so it didn't make sense. after the big buildup of what happened to Shelby's daughter, it was a pretty anti-climatic ending.

Good

this was a very good book and the narration was wonderful. this is one of those books that if you don't pay close attention, you can and will get lost

Unrealistic, but I got thru it

The beginning of the book is hard to get thru, but starts to pay off finally toward the end.The emotions toward her lover seems real enough, but totally unbelievable and sometimes non-existent regarding the loss of her daughter. Like "woops, you did a bad thing, but o well"
