Tries to be sexy and feminist

Tries to be sexy and feminist. Fails at both. On the upside, the reader was great.

Boring and Cheezy

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I hated the narrator's voice of the man, his accent made him sound evil and unlikeable

Any additional comments?

Really boring and predictable

Uggggh

A very shallow and trite "thriller" that revolved more on the internal struggle of the main character's self-esteem than it did on the actual plot. There is just so much that could have been done with this plot premise--and has already been done by other and better writers--that I was significantly NOT impressed. The main character--a blonde who has everything from a law degree to super model looks to rich and powerful connections to a supportive mother and sister to a great first job--just can't get over how her father is a chauvinistic asshole who calls her stupid. Sorry if I just don't have any sympathy for her pity party. And I'm not going to even get started on the silly and cardboard romance that dominates the book.

If you want to read a thrilling book about a tortured woman who kicks ass and falls in love with a reformed billionaire thief then stick with J.D. Robb's "In Death" series.

Boring and cheese

Perhaps it will be ok for a teenage girl. Otherwise, it is predictable and carries all the personality of a cheesecake

Meh

I like a light hearted romance but this one was just a little too light. I am pretty sure I lost brain cells.

Ok for the beach...

Apparently I'm not a big fan of Romance books. However the love scenes were very well written. Story line was weak but fun in places.

.....and gut-busting laughter ensues!

What a daily deal, I loved this listen. So funny and sexy with fantastic narration. The story is plausible, the characters are funny and fight for each other for love! At times I laughed so hard I cried....worth every penny of that $2.95 price tag!

predictable romance novel

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Characters with depth.
A plot that was not 100% predictable.
Well-written dialogue.
Less insulting to women.

What was most disappointing about Christina Dodd’s story?

Typical insulting book to women. Main female character is brilliant, top of her class at a prestigious university and the most beautiful woman one could imagine. Whoops. Turns out she is stupid throughout the book. Truly idiotic. Everyone has probably read this book before. Just change the names. Absolutely no surprises except how dumb they made her.

Did Amanda Ronconi do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Boring characters. Cookie cutter.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Sadness that this could be published.

Any additional comments?

Even at $4.00 it is a waste of money. But if you love those tabloids, you may love this.

Good story the narration killed it for me

Who doesn't love a story of love, betrayal and steamy elevator scenes? The narration was so dull. Every male character had a raspy old voice and it was hard to tell them apart. This book takes place in Chicago and NO CHICAGO ACCENTS! The mob characters sound like New Yorkers. If you can get past all that, the story keeps you involved and entertained.
