Publisher's summary

Lacey Adams lives in the small town of Magic, New Mexico, where she devotes herself to the animals at her Touch of Magic Animal Shelter. The strange assortment of animals helps heal the pain and loneliness inside her since the death of her husband three years before.

Frost is a Star Ranger. He travels the star systems, bringing intergalactic fugitives to justice. When a maximum-security fugitive escapes from the mining prison, he is sent after him. Only this time, the fugitive has violated a major law… he has traveled to a distant forbidden planet inhabited by a race that has not mastered space travel yet. Now, he is in a race to find the fugitive before those on the planet known as Earth discover there are not one, but two aliens on their world. Things become complicated when Frost discovers his heart is not as frozen as he thought when a young human female is taken hostage by the fugitive. What he doesn’t anticipate is her unexpected resistance – both to the fugitive and to him.

Frost is forced to make a decision that is guaranteed to put him on the most wanted list when he follows his heart and kidnaps Lacey. He knows that some things are worth the risk. What he doesn’t know is that Lacey has a few secrets of her own.

Finally... MORE PLEASE!

What made the experience of listening to Touch of Frost the most enjoyable?

S.E. Smith can't write a bad story. I'm waiting very impatiently for more of hers to be audio.

What did you like best about this story?

I laughed (out loud), was sad and happy. I wanted to cry in a couple of spots. Everything in one book..perfect.

Have you listened to any of David Brenin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I haven't heard him before, but I enjoyed his performance.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes, but if I tell you, it'll spoil the story for you....just listen and see.

Any additional comments?

I have been checking and checking for this author to be on Audible. Finally... she's got wonderful stories to tell. I love all of her books and can't wait for more to come out in audio.

A cool new series by S E Smith

A Touch of Frost is a great start to a new and different new series that is both funny and touching with great and strong characters throughout. It had me completely engrossed from beginning to end and I didnt want to put it down.

The characters are so well done that they seem real that they could just walk in to your house and talk to you. It makes you want to believe in magic and wish there really was a town like Magic and that aliens really do exist especially if they are like Frost. His world is beautifully described and when you listen you feel you can see it clearly.

The narrator did a great job with the story and kept me enthralled over a ten hour drive so much that I didnt notice the length of the trip and didnt feel tired and want to pull over for a sleep.

I loved this new beginning and am looking forward to the next instalment and hope that the same narrator is part of the story as he did such a good job. I would certainly recommend this book to anyone looking for a different spin on the theme of love loss and triumph of spirit to reach a happy end.

Nice light listen

This was an entertaining scifi romance where an interstellar bounty hunter goes after a particularly nasty criminal on a backwater world we know as Earth. The story was easy and light, what I didn't like was that everything was in this book - it was the kitchen sinks of books. Yes, you had the main couple, but it was a fated / foretold kind of thing so less character development or connection as a couple.
The town of Magic included in its inhabitants were-vamps, witches, talking pigs, magic'd dogs, dragons and of course alien invasion that’s considered everyday.

Also the villain was underdeveloped. I think if this character had been less crazy or cartoon evil, then it would have worked, but really he was dealt with very easily and didn’t make a comeback of any kind, so sort of an anti villain.
I liked where the book was going with the strong women in the town and really liked the lead character, however she sort of got lost in the business of the book and all the other characters involved.

A Fun Love Story

This is a fun love story that combines witches, aliens, a mad scientist, a very unusual puppy, a set of twin boys, and even a dragon. I know this sounds like a strange combination, but S. E. Smith makes it work. This is the story of what happens when a alien villian and a Star Ranger come to earth and meet a family of witches and a set of very curious twin boys. I had to laugh and smile all the way through this book and I look forward to the next book in this series.

Loved it!

Such a good book! The only, and I mean only thing that bothers me is that I have to WAIT for book 2! I was laughing, I was sad, I was wondering how in blue blazes the author was going to get the characters, that I loved, out of the situations they found themselves in.....but I am happy to report S.Smith came through with flying colors....as did the characters. Wish I were a disciplined person, it would make the wait for #2 easier. Oh well, I will just listen and laugh with book 1 again, it was that good. Oh yeah, the narrator was wonderful too.

Good. Better than I expected.

This first book in the series, sets up the universe, and introduced the first characters. Lacey, and Frost.
The story slowly unfolds and draws you into the world.
Good story and characters, interesting, and sometimes funny.
