Publisher's summary

Fear, love, and betrayal; that's what I feel about my new life.

It's a life I never asked for, at least not like that.

I certainly dreamed of adventure, of escaping from my ordinary life, but nothing prepared me for what would happen when my normal life flipped upside down.

On that fateful day, a witch, a real one, revealed to me that I'm not human! That's right, I, Lou Mills, am an enchanter like her! It seems that I'm the key to an ancient prophecy and that I must save the world from the imminent war between humans and enchanters. What waits makes no sense; in fact, nothing seems to make sense to me since meeting her.

And then there's this man...dark and mysterious...but so attractive. If only I could forget him. Duality is the way the Earth remains in balance, black and white, right and wrong, love and hate. What side should I fight for when the war finally breaks out? How to choose between my family...and the people who I belong to?

Can’t wait for the next in the series...

Would you listen to The Moonstone again? Why?

Yes.... kept my attention. Kept me guessing.

Any additional comments?

Nice book. I like the fantasy and magic elements of it. Narrator did a good job. Could tell the different characters from the voices.

SPOILERY REVIEW

OH MY GOD! GIVE ME THE NEXT ONE! I NEED IT ASAP! It was so good! The narrator was so awesome! The way that she interprets every character made me so proud. lol.😂 It was such a fun ride! The story was beautiful! There were parts that was a little cheezy for me, but this book saved me from my reading slump! It's so easy to get into, and the characters are just amazing. I connected with them. The love triangle at first was funny, everytime Zac and Black would just fight made me laugh and say "just shut-up both of you" in a laughing way. I actually shipped Lou with Zac at first, but when he betrayed them!!! Ughh! I literally shouted "I TRUSTED YOU, YOU PSYCHO!" While cooking tempura.😂 but I love that he wasn't the type of villain who became one for world dominance. I love that he had reason, and a good one. I still love him, I wish that he finds the right way again.

Blissful, Courageous, and Sexy

I was nervous for the start of the book. I had not realized this was translated at first. Since knowing, it has made some parts of the awkward working more understandable. Evelyne paints a wonderful picture of the Enchanter/Enchantress world. Although, the writing is very basic, I am enthralled with the relationships of characters in this book. The development of them, especially Lou and Black is truly special. So happy this got to be my first audible ever!

Everybody is Looking for Something Special

What happens when you feel like your life is on hold, like something is missing? Do you escape into fantasy and myth in a favored book? What happens whe someone invites you to change your whole world if only you can believe in the impossible? What happens when everyone around you starts expecting you to be the answer to their problems?

This book, when all of the elements are brought together this book is 'Harry Potter' meets 'Avatar the Last Air Bender' with a healthy top layer of 'Percy Jackson'. Of course what goes better for a young woman embarking on a new life than an eager young man with alot in common with her, and at the same time a dark and brooding older man that she can't get out of her head. The narrator sounds young which may make it hard to remember the age of main character from whose point of view the story is told. She also pronounces a few advanced vocabulary words differently than I had expected, so I found that a little distracting, but otherwise she does a good job.

There is a great deal of things to learn in this book as the author uses familiar concepts and some unfamiliar spins on what the expected 'norms' of most fantasy settings are as a new world is built for the reader to discover as the main character discovers it. Every time I thought I had a handle on the flow of this book, there would be a new twist as one or more characters would reveal a new side of themselves. This made for a bumpy ride that leaves the main character with some heart breaking-ly difficult decisions which may or may not have answers revealed in the second installment.

Secrets, magic, lies and love

This is an exciting story of secrets, magic, intrigue, betrayal and love. The story takes turns you don’t expect, has characters whose secrets surprise you and it definitely leaves you wanting more. I loved the complex relationships, the revaluations, the drama and the heartache in this story. The narrator did a good job of giving the characters individual voices and bringing the story to life, but I did find the voice she used for Lou a little childish for a 20 year old. Overall, this is an entertaining audiobook that will keep you enthralled from the the first word to the last and leave you impatient for the next in the series.
