Publisher's summary

To save her family home, impulsive bookstore owner Alexa Maria McKenzie casts a love spell. But she never planned on conjuring up her best friend's older brother - the powerful man who once shattered her heart.

Billionaire Nicholas Ryan doesn't believe in marriage, but in order to inherit his father's corporation, he needs a wife and needs one fast. When he discovers his sister's childhood friend is in dire financial straits, he offers Alexa a bold proposition: a marriage in name only with certain rules. Avoid entanglement. Keep things all business. Do not fall in love. The arrangement is only for a year, so the rules shouldn't be that hard to follow, right? Except fate has a way of upsetting the best-laid plans.

Not as good as I thought it would be. But not the worst I've heard.

This book is highly predictable and I don't think the narrator's voice matches the age of the characters. But overall it was still a good book.

Interesting twists

Would you consider the audio edition of The Marriage Bargain to be better than the print version?

I don't know. I did not read the printed version

Who was your favorite character and why?

Micheal - He always seemed surprised by the turn on events and learned the most about himself.

Not a Fan of the Hero

3.5/5 stars rounded up to 4. The hero was very unlikable pretty much the whole book. Oh, he had his moments, but he was just arrogant to the max. Turns out he had lots of reasons for this, but I would have liked more good moments. I did like the heroine a lot. She had a lot of good in her, so I did enjoy her. Narration was a solid 4 for me.

WHAT A PEACH

Just what we want from a Romance novel, it's filled with likeable characters, a believable plot, good narrator touching romance and a happy ending. What more could you ask for - well for it to happen to us I guess.

Looking forward to the next one.

Worth a credit? That would be a DEFINITELY !!

Simple romance, not that I mind...

If you are looking for a simple romance book to waste a few hours of your time this one is for you. The story is unbelievable and completely predictable but I still enjoyed it.

Light Fluffy Fun

Another romance built upon a totally unbelievable premise. And yet, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The writing was witty, the characters were quirky and humorous. I will read the next in this series.

If you are looking for a diverting, easy and enjoyable read, I recommend this book.

Very frustrating..

Any additional comments?

I don't get it. Why so many 4 and 5 star reviews? I'm at 50% and I'm not sure I going to go any further. These two act like they are still teenagers. Every time you turn around they're arguing about something that happened when they were young. It's just stupid and goes on and on AND she just keeps doing things she knows will pi** him off. They are both so immature it's not funny. And for her to bring all those dogs into his big beautiful house and think nothing of them crapping all over is even more insane. This book is just to stupid for me.

As to the narrator: Ms. Marlo is always a pleasure to listen to. She gives her characters their own personalities and voices. She's an awesome narrator.

Predictable but enjoyable

If you like this type of story line, it's enjoyable. Narration was great. She did a good job capturing the characters' personalities. The story was predictable. Even so, I have a tendency of liking this type of story. It's nothing deep or complex. It's light and fluffy so don't expect too much from it. It's black and white and nothing in between. I would recommend this if you just want an escape. I don't see myself revisiting this audiobook a million times like other books but it's something to keep in the back to reach for once in a blue moon.
