Publisher's Summary

Brigs McGregor is crawling out from the ashes. After losing his wife and son in a car accident and his job from his subsequent downward spiral, he's finally moving forward, getting a prestigious teaching position at the University of London and a new life in the city. Slowly but surely he's pushing past the guilt and putting his tragic past behind him...until he sees her.

Natasha Trudeau once loved a man so much that she thought she'd die without him. But their love was wrong, doomed from the start, and when their world crashed around them, Natasha was nearly buried in the rubble. It took years of moving on to forget him, and now that she's in London, she's ready to start again...until she sees him.

Because some loves are too dangerous to ever indulge.

And some loves are far too powerful to ignore.

Their love just might be the life and the death of them.

Contains mature themes.

Another sublime winner from Ms. Halle!

First of all, I don't even have to read story previews from this author before I buy her books/audio books. She NEVER fails to deliver a great read. The narrators in this book were beyond amazing and I loved every second. The worse part of any Karina Halle book is when it's over and I have to wait for another. She gives such life and realistic stories to the world. I can't even recommend it highly enough. Get it. You're welcome. ;)

Fav so far

This was my favourite of the series so far. It was written similarly to the others but something about the characters just sparked for me. It was easy to get swept up into a love story both tragic and sweet. And a happy ending to wrap it up with a nice red bow

Not here for infidelity

I liked the Pact and the Play but this one did not impress me. I never really liked the two main characters because of how their relationship started. I tried so hard to give this one a chance but the cheating and dishonesty ruined the love story for me.

However I did like the Narrators' performances.

Better.

This one is definitely better than those before but I feel like it's still too long.

Terrible, terrible female narrator ruins this one!

Would you try another book from Karina Halle and/or Lidia Dornet and Antony Ferguson ?

The female narrator is horrible. She over enunciates her words and it sounds like she is (a) spitting whenever she speaks (which is just so gross sounding and VERY distracting) and (b) has tons of phlegm in her throat (again, totally gross and distracting). There are even parts in the narration where you can practically hear her slurping her spit back into her mouth when she takes a breath. I'm really not trying to be mean, but this narrator totally ruined the audiobook for me. The male was great, but I still recommend that you read this story instead of listen to it.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

See above. Spit, phlegm, blaah. So gross!

Narration😞

I really struggled with the female narration. she just wasn't believable to me. it's so much better when the male and female play those parts.

Good continuation of the series

Briggs story lived up to my expectations. An enjoyable listen but there were some irritations with the narration of accents for Brit natives.
