Publisher's summary

At first glance I probably seem like any good-looking guy in their late twenties. I have an obscene amount of confidence, a tattooed body sculpted by the Nordic gods, and I love the ladies as much as they love me. If I'm not base jumping or car racing, I'm chasing other devious thrills with the woman of the week. And that's fine if you're the average single guy.

But I'm not the average single guy. I'm Crown Prince Magnus of Norway, and my latest scandal just landed my entire royal family in hot water. Now the only way the monarchy can save face is for me to smarten up - publicly. If I don't, I'll no longer be heir apparent to the throne. So it's either I abdicate my future role as King or...I get married. To a blue-blooded stranger.

Enter Princess Isabella of the tiny country of Liechtenstein. Quiet, intelligent, and uniquely beautiful, Ella doesn't like this arrangement any more than I do, and she's not afraid to show it. She says I'm a womanizer, that I don't take anything seriously, that my ego should be taken down a few pegs, and I think she aims to make me miserable for the rest of my life.

But even as our arranged marriage becomes a war of wit and words, I'm determined to break through Ella's prim and proper façade to find the wild, sexual, and risk-taking woman underneath. I want to uncover the Queen inside her. The only question is-will she let me?

Contains mature themes.

KH did it again!! ;)

I don’t like princely books but this is the second I’ve read by KH and I’m loving them. Vic and Mog are not your typical princes. They are very real have fears and make mistakes and the women they fall in love with are normal ladies with spleen! I think my favorite thing about this book was that there wasn’t subterfuge just life and it’s hurtles. Even the royal and rich live normalish lives have family drama and jump to conclusions just like the rest of us. This was just sweet and fun and I enjoyed this book just as much as The Swedish Prince. The audio version of both books are also well done and pleasant to listen to.

I loved the story.

The audible book kept me entertained.
The narrative voice for Ella was a bit off for what I wanted to imagine. Jeremy York, narrator for Magnus, completely captured the whole story. He is always one of the best narrators that is convincing.

LOVED IT!

I really enjoyed this story. The idea that a someone in such a position could fall have that kind of energy about him makes sense. I really enjoyed their spirit. It wasn't too overbearing and had a wonderful pace. Ella and Magnus's relationship grew at a good pace and it was fantastic to see the 2 of them grow together and find themselves in each other. Great story! Now I want to read the others written by this author.

I feel it could have been good

I was not able to finish this book due to the female narrator. When she speaks she ends every sentence with a lift to her voice. And the male voice she uses is not pleasant. I can’t fall in love with the character if he sound dopey.

Solid 4 stars

The wild heir really wasn’t that wild. Going into this book I was expecting a more egomaniac prince and a lot of angst. This was a surprise as the book was actually really sweet and romantic. It’s a slow slow burn too which is the reason for the 4 star rating. The narration is 4 star only because the characters are Norwegian and although I’m sure it’s difficult to do a Scandinavian accent, it would have been cool if the narration did.

This was an absolutely wonderful listen!😍😍😍

This author is new to me, but I love, love this sexy, hot and steamy listen. The story unfolded beautifully with smart and strong main characters. I just really enjoyed the development of the story, the steps each character took to develop the relationship and the growth.

The narrators were absolute perfection bringing the characters to life. The story made me laugh, cry and get really angry, but they were a young couple put in a complicated situation and found love. Karina, it was a really great story.👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

I liked the story but...

I liked the story, it wasn’t anything new or exciting. However, I stopped listening and just finished by reading it. I really did not like the male narrator for Magnus.

Juvenile

Obviously this book is a fantasy but there has to be some believability to the story. This book was ridiculously juvenile and clearly intended for high schoolers. I could never see a Royal using swear words or being undiagnosed as these characters were. Additionally the female voice was awful and very irritating!

I wanted to like it, I really did....

but the female narrator ruined it for me; I had to double-time it through her parts or I would t have finished. I also didn't like that the characters were from Europe but only the side characters had accents.

Couldn’t finish

I loved the book but couldn’t finish the audible. The female narrator was annoying with stilted intonation in just amount every sentence, and ‘cookie monster’ sounding male voices. I just couldn’t stay in the story.

Struggled to finish it

First of all there were several cases of the wrong word being said - saying ‘poignant’ instead of ‘pointed’, for example. Either the author isn’t great with the English language, or the narrators got confused and read what they thought the word was rather than what it actually was - whatever the case, proof reading and an editor should have caught the multiple silly mistakes. I’m sure people would do this for free if money was the reason for not going through this process.

The characters weren’t great. The hero had potential and I liked what the author was going for, but by the end the heroine just seemed like a boring immature girl with only a tenuous loyalty to the hero, and she’s way too influenced by other people. Felt zero emotional connection to this story.

The plot was a mixture of uninspired and predictable, with stereotypical characters and pantomime situations. Monologuing villains was the last straw for me.

The dirty talk was awful. Don’t know if it was the words themselves or the bad narration but I found myself rolling my eyes and feeling like I was having a window into a couple’s relationship that just was not sexy.

Stephanie Wyles was such an annoying narrator with her unnatural intonation and distractingly bad male voices too. Jeremy York’s narration was actually better in this book than in many other books I’ve heard him in so at least I could wait until his chapters (he wasn’t trying to be dark and mysterious as he often is in other books).

Enjoyable read

Good narration and an easy listen. Possibly a little rushed at the end. A little more enemy time could have been utilised for build-up, but it's still a good read.

Love it

I love Magnus. He is cheeky and naughty, a typical womaniser who gets reformed by the love of a good woman Ella. Their relationship is fiery and passionate and leaves the listener wanting more. The narration was good bringing these two characters to life.
