Falling in love wasn't the plan. But how could I resist his promises of hope? Of forgiveness? Of a future I had stopped dreaming of? We were shattered. We were scarred. We were something strange and beautiful. We were two lost souls holding on to the only thing that could keep us together. Each other.

Story
Each day I prayed for my husband to love me again. After 15 years together, he walked away from me, and into the arms of another. I didn’t know how to cope. I didn’t know my worth. I didn’t know how to exist without him by my side. All I wanted was for him to come back to me. Then, Jackson Emery appeared. He was supposed to be a distraction for my mind. A summer fling. A confidence boost to my bruised heart. We were perfect for one another, because we both knew we wouldn’t last. Jackson didn’t believe in commitment, and I no longer believed in love.

Greyson East left his mark on me. As the young girl who first fell for him, I didn’t know much about life. I did know about his smiles, though, and his laughs, and the strange way my stomach flipped when he was near. Life was perfect…until it wasn’t, and when we were forced to go our separate ways, I held on to our memories, let go of my first crush, and wished for the day I’d find him again.

I was warned about Tristan Cole. "Stay away from him," people said. "He's cruel." "He's cold." "He's damaged." It's easy to judge a man because of his past. To look at Tristan and see a monster. But I couldn't do that. I had to accept the wreckage that lived inside of him, because it also lived inside of me.

Emery has never felt more alone. Raising her daughter is both her pleasure and her pain as she struggles to hold on to her job as a bartender and keep a roof over their heads. With no one to help them - no support system - any unexpected expense or late bill could turn their whole world upside down. Reeling from the death of his twin brother and bandmate, rock star Oliver Smith is trying to drink his problems away. Apparently he isn’t very good at it; they follow him wherever he goes. Also in hot pursuit are the paparazzi, who catch Oliver at his lowest low.

Shay Gable hated my guts, and I hated hers, too. We went out of our way to avoid one another at all times. When she came in my direction, I went the other. When we locked eyes, she’d turn and walk away. All of that changed the day I was presented with a challenge. It started out as a stupid bet: make Shay fall in love with me before I fell in love with her first. That was an easy bet for me to win. I didn’t love. I hardly liked. Yet slowly the game started to shift. Shay made me crave things I never knew I wanted.

My future is a big ‘what if’ at the moment and I’m fine with that. For the most part. When Thayer Holmes moves in next door, the grumpy landscaper both fascinates and amuses me. When he asks me to nanny his kid, it’s a great way to make some extra money. It’s impossible not to fall in love with Thayer and his adorable son. There’s a big problem though. I’m eighteen. He’s thirty-one. Falling for someone almost fifteen years older than me wasn’t part of my plans, but sometimes things happen when you least expect them.

I know I should stay away from Ian Parker. But when my drug-dealing stepdad kicks me out, I have nowhere to go. Squatting in an abandoned shed on Ian’s grandpa’s farm seems like as good a plan as any. Ian finds me there, of course, and he insists on me moving into his spare room. I should say no, but the appeal of a roof and a warm bed is too much. Not to mention Ian’s brown eyes and strong arms. We’re nothing alike, but the spark between us is undeniable. But then I call the cops on my stepdad and unintentionally get my pregnant mom arrested.

Publisher's Summary
To Whom It May Concern,
It was easy to call us forbidden and harder to call us soul mates. Yet I believed we were both. Forbidden soul mates.
When I arrived in Edgewood, Wisconsin, I didn't plan to find him. I didn't plan to stumble into Joe's bar and have Daniel's music stir up my emotions. I had no clue that his voice would make my hurts forget their own sorrow. I had no idea that my happiness would remember its own bliss.
When I started senior year at my new school, I wasn't prepared to call him Mr. Daniels, but sometimes life happens at the wrong time for all the right reasons.
Our love story wasn't only about the physical connection. It was about family. It was about loss. It was about being alive. It was silly. It was painful. It was mourning. It was laughter. It was ours.
And for those reasons alone, I would never apologize for loving Mr. Daniels.

I'm going to start with how I felt at the beginning of this book...
Another great YA story with some seriously heartbreaking tough situations. The main characters were both broken by death. They found each other exactly when they needed each other the most. The "illegal" part of this story was a bit cliche but it took me about 30 minutes to get past that and fall in love with these two, together.
The ending of this story was maybe a bit cheesy, I love a happy ending but this entire story was about Ashlyn learning who she was and how she dealt with so much but this was a little too much "perfect ending" for such a broken girl. I guess it just felt a little like this story needed a little less"perfect ending" and maybe it was too perfect to make it believable for me.
The narration was great I enjoyed them both.

LOSS, LONGING, LIFE.. & FORBIDDEN LOVE
A breathtaking NA romance as 22 yr old Daniel and 19 yr old Ashlyn knew what it was like to grieve - and grieve hard.. as the rest of the world laughed and got on with their own lives.. unaware of the turmoil, the sorrow - and the guilt that consumed these broken and very complex people. However, a chance meeting would bring these two lost souls together and like would find like through mutual attraction, through their shared grief, through sizzling chemistry.. and through Shakespeare's meaningful words. But unfortunately Fate stepped in and threw a major spanner into their budding intense relationship and the reality of their impossible situation would create a tsunami that would bring drama, angst, many tears and much heartbreak. And, as the deadly waters receded, the emotional wreckage that was left behind could only be healed by time.. so they sacrificed their todays now for a chance of tomorrows sometime in the years ahead.
This is NOT a happy feel good romance - it's gritty, it deals with death, grief and all that comes with the premature loss of loved ones - either by disease or by the actions of another - but the result is the same.. a gaping whole, a shattered heart and broken dreams. However, it IS a beautiful NA love story that'll touch your soul, break your heart and then piece it back together again to make a story that was compelling, beautiful and unforgettable too. The sex wasn't over done and the tender words shared between these star-crossed lovers sears your soul.. as does the gay step-brother's dilemma of coming out and all the hurtful heartbreaking scenes that followed. Daniel was broken, damaged, gorgeous, thoughtful, caring, sexy and the Lead Singer of Romeo's Quest and Ashlyn was lost, lonely, alone, abandoned and broken too. Together they healed and found the other half of their soul. Dual POV, great narration and a storyline that had a few surprises up its sleeve that I never saw coming.
Worth a credit? I don't usually like NA but I do like Brittainy Cherry and she absolutely floored me with this unique, moving, memorable and very creditworthy listen.

Move over 50 Shades & Gabriel's Inferno!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
absolutely, especially to my friends who enjoyed the crossfire series, 50 Shades and Gabriel's Inferno Series.
What did you like best about this story?
Mr. Daniels, of course! How much more perfect could he be?!
Which character – as performed by Vikas Adam and Jennifer Stark – was your favorite?
Mr. Daniels, but they were all performed very, very well!
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The book starts off by capturing your attention with the death of the twin and doesn't let up until the very end. She had me hooked from chapter 1.
Any additional comments?
I knew from the description that I would like this book, but I didn't foresee me falling in love with Mr. Daniels the way I did. For some reason that teacher/student relationship gets to me every single time. It reminded me quite a bit of Gabriel's Inferno series, but with more tragedy right from the start. As obsessed with Gabriel's Inferno as I still am and it's been years, this book would rank right up there with that series. From drugs, death, star-crossed lovers, father-daughter relationship, step siblings, to a beautiful love story that will provoke a vast array of feelings. This is a book you will want to read and re-read, at least that is how it is for me.
I would recommend this to anyone who enjoyed the crossfire series, 50 Shades of Grey, or the Gabriel Inferno series, but in my opinion it far surpassed the 50 Shades Series!
The cover does not do this book justice.

Disappointing
A friend recommended this book because she thought it was amazing, couldn't put it down. Maybe because I'm a little older, but this story was so old and predictable. Student and teacher sneaking around to be with each other and of course she has huge breasts that they can't stop talking about. And all the crying the girl does is so ridiculous. Needless to say I will not be recommending to anyone.

Destroyed
This was my last unread Brittainy Cherry book and she did not disappoint. She brought everything to the table that I have learned to expect from her. Happy, sad, love, romance, angst and finally a happy ending. There is no greater mix for a book in this genre.
Although slightly taboo, it's on the mild side and I don't believe it to be trigger worthy. I think Brittainy intentionally made it so that there would be no questions about morality. More ethical in nature but still not enough that I would categorize as taboo.

Good (if you are an older teenager)
I found this book difficult to rate. For me personally, this book was an eye-rolling 3 stars, if that. However, I’m clearly not the target audience so I didn’t think it was fair of me to bring the rating down because some people would adore this book, and it is decently written. I decided to rate it as if I were the person who should have purchased the book instead of a a 30 something year old woman who doesn’t suffer fools.
You need to be able to relate to a 19 year old who acts more like a much younger teenager with ‘you’ve ruined my life’ tantrums, put up with side characters who make stupid decisions and have a lack of self worth and I think are supposed to be acting like ‘normal’ teenagers (though I don’t remember me or any of my friends being like that when we were 14, let alone older like the characters in this book). Also high school drama and angst, lots of tears and a star crossed love affair filled with poetry, sonnets and Shakespeare.
I bet if you connect with that sort of story then you will love this book. I however, do not.

Slow starter
Firstly this book was good and I did want to keep turning those pages.
It seemed slow at the beginning and I started to wonder if it would ever pick up the pace and would I enjoy it? The two main characters were likeable but Ashlyn could be a little to self involved at times and Daniel a bit to overkill on the romance/poetic talk. The sex was ok, there was some in there but it wasn’t to out there or dirty. I wasn’t to keen on chapters swopping to different characters telling the story either. There was quite a bit of death too. Overall it was ok and a good read but maybe for me personally a bit to much death which seem to overtake the whole book/storyline instead of the relationship between the two main characters.
