DELICIOUS.. A BEAUTY & THE BEAST STANDOFF

The Publisher's Summary has given you a brief description of this book and, if that's tempted you, then I'll add that it's also got a heartwarming, sexy and thought provoking storyline too. Because ex Marine Eli has brought back some emotional demons from his tour of duty.. the loss of his friends/comrades and the partial loss of a leg has left Eli with a case of survivor's guilt even though he was honourably discharged. He's trying to pick up the pieces of a now very different life.. a life where he wants to set up a new Charity to help injured veterans but he's also getting pressure to join his two supportive brothers in running Crane Hotels. Eli's overrun, permanently annoyed, unsociable, moody and he's often in pain - and the very last thing he thinks he needs is an Assistant.. but when the beautiful confident, strong-willed, feisty new Assistant won't be frightened off, Eli has finally met his match.. in all aspects of his life - he just doesn't know it yet.

Isabella has come from a wealthy family who held lofty expectations from her both socially and personally which led to the wrong boyfriend but she's fought hard for her independence and owns a successful Employment Agency. Isabella thinks she knows what to expect when she takes the job that all eleven of her previous employees have been sacked from.. but, from day one, Isabella is drawn to the complex, damaged, handsome, infuriating beast that tempts her as much as he taunts her. And every time they clash fiery exchanges fuel the sizzling chemistry that's simmering between them. Isabella is smart, driven and direct and has always gone after what she wants.. and what she wants is Eli so, when sexual insecurities over his lost leg stop Eli from following through, Isabella is the perfect person to intimately tell and physically show Eli that he IS all man. However, the beast doesn't quite transform into a Prince because commitment-phobe Eli is very happy living in the now.. and trouble comes when Isabella wants his tomorrows.. and his heart.

A push/pull character driven drama-free dual POV story that wrapped up nicely the stories of all three stubborn yet loveable Crane Billionaires. It's got a sprinkling of humor, passion, character development, touching scenes, sexcapades and a strong h/h who royally clash before becoming royally screwed. Its well described chapters made for easy imagery of each scene.. but what brought each of those scenes to life was Sasha Dunbrooke whose gave the perfect blend of emotional nuances needed for all the scenes and her male voice was great too.

Worth a credit? Yes.. all three books in this very enjoyable series are.

Good Listen

This was a great conclusion to the Billionaire trilogy. I really don't know whos story I liked the best. No spoilers here! But this was a straight through listen. I jump around to different books all the time(I listen to an average of 3 books at a time) but sometimes when you get a good one you cant put it down. I couldn't put this listen down!!

Love is Scary

and Eli is very scared of opening himself up and being vulnerable to the pain of loss and or rejection. He lost his mother in a car accident, friends in combat and his leg leaving him emotionally as well as physically scarred. Isabella doesn't let that stop her. She is a take charge woman...charging into his life with a strength and not a little bit of stubbornness. No cheating. HEA ends a little abruptly but otherwise a good read.

Trails, travails and woo- hoo resolution

The billionaire is no bastard... he's actually a troubled soul on his journey to a better life. I devoured this book with delight and am walking away with hopes renewed and a full heart. Don't let it pass you by. It's too good to miss!

Great story, so-so narration

This is the last book in a trilogy but I read it first. Loved the storyline and character struggles. The story itself made me read this book out of order because it sounded and was the most interesting of the three books. Narrator didn't do a great job with the male voices. Her performance of the male voices reminded me of the cowardly lion's voice in different pitches. That took away a bit from enjoying the book. Overall, though, the book is a solid read.

Great story... annoying narrator

How did the narrator detract from the book?

My only real complaint is the narrator's pronunciation is....off... in many ways. It's almost a little too grammatically perfect rather than regionally correct. In other words, I didn't buy that she was narrating an American couple. Her pronunciation of Maryland just did me in. I get the feeling that the narrator is actually from the UK or Australia because she was using British-like pronunciation several times with her American accent. It was often forced an a little too practiced, rather than natural. It was a very good American accent... but pronunciation can give you away if you get the dialect wrong. Little things like that can make or break a performance. Did nobody quality control that?
