Publisher's summary

My name is Eris Herrington, and I make my living through the pain and suffering of others.

Every item I touch tells me a story, shows me a painful end. But I get results, I solve crimes, and I get even. It's enough for me. Humans don't like my kind - STRANDs, created by humans through scientific experiments - but they'd hate to know how many other creatures came out publicly under our name. So we police our own to keep the boogeymen from getting free. I help keep humans safe, and you better thank me for it.

And then I was tricked into a case I wasn't prepared to handle. Attached to a man that I couldn't help but fall for...and everyone is a liar. I'm trapped, drawn, and seduced by his world and his words. I can't stop from holding on to him. This case is tearing me up, and he's my only safe harbor. But can I trust a man who can lie to the girl who sees everything?

I don't know....

Exciting BWAM inclusive paranormal mystery romance

Interesting love story with a mystery of who is killing paranormals & strand humans. Warning the sex scenes are vivid and detailed. VERY Intense.. There were mention of diverse characters of different skin colors, races & cultures along with different species. I hope that there are other stories detailing the SEER's family. I found the main male character Ken (Japanese samurai warrior) SEXY as heck.. More male Asian warriors Please,, Yum.. Despite the vivid sexual descriptions.. This was an action fill & exciting story worth a credit/money for an ADULT listener/reader..

I really enjoyed this.

So the story wasn't perfect and there were some cringy lines. But I I still enjoyed it.

Might have benefited from two narrators.

A different kind of paranormal

This is the first book I've heard by this author. It was a great twist on the traditional paranormal. It had excitement, romance, mystery, and a dark feel that I love in audios. I loved the sexual tension between the two main characters and how the author showed how much a deep connection can not only bring you closer to your lover but help heal you in your time of need. A strong female lead to go along with a strong story.

Love the story, the narration was cringy

This story was very interesting. I love books with diversity, asians, black, white. It has a lot of potential. The narrator was terrible. It killed the book . There were times when I wanted to abandon the book, but i really wanted to hear the ending.

Excellent Read

The story was fluid with deep characters. Beautiful expansion on vamps, shifters, strand and others

The insta-lust ruined this book

This story involves a seer, Eris, who does freelance work for a crime unit and can visualize the murdered victims' final moments. However, doing this has adverse and potentially deadly effects on her. Along comes Ken, a detective working on behalf of a seer agency, who steps in and "bleeds" the effects of Eris's power making the process go a little smoother. They meet like this for the first time at a BRUTAL crime scene with a family of four where the children are tortured and killed. Erin and Ken are together and touching these poor victims, reliving their final moments......and also getting SUPER horny for each other. I get that they make a connection the instant their powers work together, but hearing about how hard Eris makes Ken and what he wants to do with her while she wears a skintight uniform and goes over crime scenes cheapened the story for me. A little subtlety can go a long way here. There was also very little build-up to their relationship, I felt no chemistry between them regardless of how often the story mentions their feelings as it went along.
I was also let down by the convoluted motive of the killings. I was hoping for, at least, an intriguing crime story if I wasn't going to enjoy the romantic part.
There's a lot of world-building we are introduced to with different types of seers, vampires, shifters, banshees and their politics. It appears that the series was abandoned after the publication of this book back in 2015, so all of my note-taking was in vain. Honestly, perhaps it was for the best.

HORRIBLY SICK

I couldn’t get past the first chapter. I don’t understand why this book is in the romance section. The details were sadistic!!! Consider yourself warned
