Publisher's Summary

Best-selling author Julia Quinn flawlessly combines passionate romance with "pitch perfect humor" (Publishers Weekly).

Miranda Cheever has been blessed with many things, but great beauty is not among them. Still, when she meets Viscount Tuner, she knows she is meant for him. As the years go by, fate is as kind to Miranda as it is harsh on the Viscount. He's skeptical about love with good reason - but he may be falling for Miranda.

"The male protagonist is a jack@ss."

I couldn't get past how strong the female character was and how utterly unlikeable her male counterpart was. Whiny, obnoxious, self-absorbed, and Ms. Quinn wrote the female lead as miserable and unable to do anything about him. As empowered as she made the female lead for a 19th woman, she still shackled her to the most obnoxious man alive. She resolved his stupidity at the very end, but by then it was too late. Very disappointing, Ms. Quinn.

    "Best of Julia Quinn"

I've read many of Quinn's books, and this is by far the best. I wish all of her books were this good. The dialogue is so funny and charming and the narrator has the best voice for this story--she doesn't give the heroine the high-pitched annoying little girl voice that many other narrators do. She sounds like a grown woman with some attitude. I love her.

    "The worst narration🙀"

She was awful, I only listen so I could get to the next book in the series. But it was so bad I found myself taking an aspirin before I listened,
that voice was just... not good!!!

"Horrible petty character , who is suppose to be smart"

What an awful image of a woman half in one century and half in another (for the writer cannot project herself into the past, so does a bad job of depicting an intelligent woman who turns out to be very stupid and petty. I hated it and was too far into it to return it before I figured out it was only going to get worse.

    "Wonderful story, fantastic narrator!"

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I was very entertaining from the beginning though it got a little draggy two thirds the way through. I wholeheartedly recommend this if you enjoy a romantic novels.

This was a bland romance. I read it all the way through, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else.

    "Unsure......"
What did you love best about Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever?

I have read this book and liked it quite a bit when I read it which is why I purchased it.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love Miranda's most of all she is strong and inteligent but vulnerable at the same.

Would you be willing to try another one of the narrator’s performances?

NO....I almost turned off the story because I could not handle the narration.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did when I bought it even though I have read it befor, however not after listening to the narrator.

    Any additional comments?

I love Julia Quinn however if all of her books are narrated by the same person I will not be purchasing them.

    "Not her best"

the story is quite depressing in essence and becomes a little far fetched in its execution. the relationship between hero and damsel is a bit thin to be involving such a dramatic story line. not very believable. the good thing is the heroine is a really likable character - has a good sense of humor and is smart and sensible.
the hero is tormented and just plain angry, and after some really insensitive moves, it makes it very difficult to accept that his behavior would be tolerated in this era.
over all it is flat in the development of their relationship. Narration was good though, so that helped.
