Publisher's summary

Violet Jacobs is fearless. At least, that's what the cowboys she snatches from under the hooves of bucking horses think. Outside the ring, she's got plenty of worries rattling her bones: her young son, her mess of a love life, and lately, her family's struggling rodeo. When she takes business into her own hands and hires on a hotshot bullfighter, she expects to start a ruckus.

She never expected Joe Cassidy.

Joe came to Texas to escape a life spiraling out of control. He never planned on sticking around, and he certainly never expected to call this dry and dusty backwater home. But Violet is everything he never knew he was missing, and the deeper he's pulled into her beautiful mess of a family, the more he realizes this fierce rodeo girl may be offering him the one thing he never could find on his own. Contains mature themes.

Great Story + Great Performance = Great Listening

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I’m starting the second book in this series right away. This is the first book that I have listened to or read that was written by Kari Lynn Dell, but it will not be the last!

Cute Cowboy Romance

Very steamy slow burn and closed door romance. The narrator is fine when you listen to it a little bit sped up. But for the love of god, Pendleton is pronounced “PENELTON” the “d” is silent. It wouldn’t bug me if it was only mentioned once or twice, but it is one of the most common words in this whole book.

Story is good.

I like the book itself. I will read the rest of the series. I'm not sure what it is about the reader, but her voice is flat. Also, the flow of her reading is not smooth. Her voice is not expressive, so monotone.

Rodeos and cowboys

Good story with just the right amount of drama... and a cute kid. The h was a tad whiny but still a good story.

Good Love Story

Great voice actor. I my own opinion, solo voices have to be able to cross over to the opposite sex’s voice. She did a good job fulfilling that for the men’s voices.

Voice

The narrator is speaking really fast. Not in a very good story telling voice. The voice is very nasally… it made it very difficult to get into character when listening and occasionally was hard to understand without proper pauses on punctuation.

A great bullfighter and bull riding story

I like the storyline of this book and I like the way the characters were portrayed. I wish the ending was a little better but I still liked the book anyway.

Narration Ruined It

I really was looking forward to listening to this book after a few folks recommended it. However, as much as I tried to get into the book I couldn’t follow any of the storyline due to the horrible narration. I listen to audiobooks very frequently and I have never had to return a book because of the narration before.

The narrator puts on a horrible fake southern accent that really distracts from the storyline. And her voice is incredibly monotone throughout. The only inflection you hear is when she messes up a pronunciation of a word while trying to accomplish a southern drawl.

Perhaps purchase the book and read it, but definitely avoid the audio version. I’ve had an audible subscription for years and this is the first book I’ve ever had to return due to narration. Overall a disappointing experience.

The narrator is terrible, ruined the whole story.

I believe the story would have been good, but couldn’t stand to listen to the narrator. Too slow & the fake accent …. Too distracting from the story.
