Naomi Pierce isn't the type to let a cowboy sweep her off feet. It's not her first rodeo, after all. But when she returns to her Texas hometown, she can't help but be swept up again in the rough-and-tumble world of hard-riding, bronco-busting good-ol'-boys she loved as a girl. She might be here to photograph her Rodeo Queen best friend. But it's one fine-looking cowboy who really captures her eye....

Publisher's Summary
'Tis the season for ex-Navy SEAL Clayton East to come home for the holidays - even if the mood at home is anything but festive. His father is ill. The East Ranch is in financial trouble. And now it's on Clayton, the prodigal son, to make sure his family doesn't lose everything.
Headstrong Abby Harper is like a mother to her younger brothers, who she's helped raise since she was a teenager. Keeping them in line is no small task while she's also working toward her college degree. And now that one of her brothers has been arrested for stealing cattle at the East Ranch, Abby is at her wits' end. But there is a silver lining: Clayton East. He believes in second chances, and is willing to give one to her brother this Christmas. Letting beautiful Abby - and the inescapable longing in his heart - off the hook, however, is a whole 'nother story. Could it be that the woman of this local hero's dreams has been back at home all along?

Narrarator is horrible and robotic
Wow - I bought this Audible in conjunction with book so I could listen while I drive. The narrator is so robotic and weirdly ends her words sometimes in a sing-songy way. It’s weird and she is uncomfortable to listen to. Almost reminds me of having SIRI read a book to you. Just BAD. I definitely won’t be purchasing anymore audible books she narrates.

Lovely Cowboy romance!
I had not listened to a cowboy romance in quite a while and decided to give this audiobook a listen. The story was well written and the premise of the story is a former SEAL gets called home after his father has a slight stroke because the family ranch is in trouble financially. Someone rustled a hundred head of cattle and their prize bull and their accountant has embezzled huge sums of money from their business. When he’s home, he meets the sister of the only cattle rustler to get caught- a teenage boy. She’s been raising her two brothers since their mother deserted them 8 years before. This is a sweet romance with just a few sexy scenes. The narration was well done as well.

Cheesy and cute with awful narration
The narrator was truly not matched for this book. Her voice was oddly monotone, and the little bit of voice changing that she did was just strange. She is not well suited for cheesy romance novels. The story was pretty predictable, but it was a cute love story.

Impactful
I love stories involving the holidays especially when they involve two lost people finding one another. This is a heartfelt story about a sister who loves her brothers and raises them against all odds. This story spoke to me in an intense manner as I helped raise my siblings so I connected very strongly with Abby's trials and tribulations in growing up too fast and giving up dreams. I also got how much she loved them and wouldn't change anything.
This is well written and contains a lot of life lessons for every character in the story as well as the reader. What impressed me about this book was how the author presented consequences from actions taken with original good intent and how it snowballs as time goes on causing great harm. Also how others grow from these mistakes made by others showing the reader that sometimes mistakes can bring about great change, forgiveness and a life you will love. For me the strongest point made by this book is that mistakes shape one's character making them someone to admire.

Cattle rustlers, a SEAL and a quiet woman
Abby Harper is young and struggling to take care of her two brothers, while working and taking accounting classes online. She truly did NOT need her brother to get into trouble...for cattle rustling!
Retired SEAL, Clayton East has returned home to help his parents. Someone has stolen most of their cattle and prized bull...and their accountant has run off after embezzling their money. Imagine his surprise when he arrives at the sheriff’s office to discover that the caught cattle thief is a 16yo boy. Clayton believes in second chances and works out an agreement with the boy...work off the debt of the stolen cattle. He is also attracted to the boy’s older sister/guardian and wants to get to know her.
This is one of those stories that tugs at your heart strings but the ending gives you the warm fuzzies. Our H and h suffer loss, abandonment and other issues but the unconditional love and support of family helps them through. Bad guys get their comeuppance! Moving on to the next book in the series.
