Publisher's summary

An indie phenomenon and a New York Times and USA Today best seller, the first in a heartwrenching new adult series about a beautiful young sports rehab specialist who can't fight her attraction to a dangerously sexy underground fighter - a fallen boxer.

A woman with a broken dream.

A competition…

He even makes me forget my name.

One night was all it took, and I forgot everything and anything except the sexy fighter in the ring who sets my mind ablaze and my body on fire with wanting…

Remington Tate is the strongest, most confusing man I've ever met in my life. He's the star of the dangerous underground fighting circuit, and I'm drawn to him as I've never been drawn to anything in my life. I forget who I am, what I want, with just one look from him. When he's near, I need to remind myself that I am strong - but he is stronger. And now it's my job to keep his body working like a perfect machine, his taut muscles primed and ready to break the bones of his next opponents...

But the one he's most threatening to now, is me. I want him. I want him without fear. Without reservations... If only I knew for sure what it is that he wants from me?

Fair listening

There were parts that I missed and didn't feel the need or have the desire to go back and listen to. I was able to to listen till the end. Definitely not a page turner. But ok.

A REAL good place to start!

I have read so many of Katy Evans recent books and loved them all, so I felt compelled to go back to the beginning with Real. I'm so glad I did! Remy and Brooke's story is filled with mystery, tension, passion and heart pounding exhilaration! I'm definitely going to have to finish the Real series now!
The narrator's voice definitely suited the character. Young, youthful and easy to listen to. My only complaint was that other the characters dialogue wasn't characterized in a different tone so it sometimes made it a little hard to follow scenes where there were conversations between two or more people.

Perfection

I loved everything about the story and Charlotte Penfield was incredible. She may be my new favorite narrator.

It was good, but . . .

Any additional comments?

First, yes, this book was interesting and had it's steamy scenes. But it dragged in spots and the narrator was a little monotone as other reviewers have stated. There was good chemistry between the hero and heroine, but I expected more interaction between the two. It seemed like they spent a lot of time apart. Also, like another reviewer, I was really annoyed with the heroine for yelling at Remington when he was in the hospital and had just woken from a coma. Were I in her shoes, I would have stuck around to hear what he had to say for himself. As for the rest of the books in the series, I'm torn. The writing was good enough that I'd read more by this author, but I sort of want to leave well enough alone. The book had my HEA and I'm not sure I can take more angst between these two!

CAPTIVATING ...FRUSTRATING....REAL !!

Loved this story , loved the "real" of it all. The book is written wonderfully and narration was great ! I got so into the feeling that I was there, watching through Brooks eyes , wow , kept me on the edge, and the only frustrating and anxious part I experienced was the "playing" that Remi and Brook did ...for ohhhhh so long , I just want them to "DO IT" and ease my anticipation!! Seriously , thats what made the book GREAT....one of my favorites !

Good story, but not great

I'm torn on my overall opinion of this book. I listen to books all day while I'm at work and average a book a day. If I was an occasional listener or haven't read as many books as I have in this genre I would have liked it more. Comparing it to other series like Driven or Renegades. It wasn't a book that kept my attention and my brain did wonder.

I enjoyed the story and the different take on "the damaged bad boy," I feel like the parts there was lots of detail on parts that were inconsequential and not enough on important parts. I didn't love the narrator, she was just okay. Overall, there's a lot of tension and build up for 75% of the book. It's not a favorite, but worth the $8 I paid while it was on sale.

Narrator kept me this book

The beginning of this story was really good. I enjoyed all the characters, the timing was for me a little off. It became bogged down. I think things would have happened a little quicker than written. The writer does a good job of engaging your curiosity about what exactly is going on with RIP. After we find out I didn't care for the way it went. It is exciting and in some ways tragic with many of todays issues. I appreciated the modern quality. It required a stretch of the imagination too far, seemed like it became a YA book. Their romance is not something I could find believable but I guess there is someone for everyone in writing. The narrator was superb I think I would stop before it was over if it hadn't been for her.

Very special hero

Who was your favorite character and why?

Remy is a character who is unique and compelling

Any additional comments?

The world of underground boxing is not something I thought I would ever be interested in, but I found it fascinating. Please note - not rated by husband who is member - rated by his wife. I liked all 3 books.
