Publisher's summary

She will take him beyond his wildest dreams. As Demon King, Noah is dedicated to protecting his kind from their human and Nightwalker enemies. Yet for six months he has struggled with vivid dreams that threaten his very sanity. Every night he's tormented by images of a woman both achingly real and tantalizingly beyond his grasp. And his bone-deep need leaves him no choice but to force her to leave the life she's known and enter a world beyond her imagining...

Every day, Kestra risks her life in perilous missions that veer just shy of the law, but she instinctively knows that the imposingly sensual figure before her is a danger unlike any she's ever faced. Kestra has sworn never to trust or need another man, but Noah's lightest touch scorches her with fevered desire, branding her as his mate, blinding them both to the terrifying truth. For within the ranks of their own people lies an adversary growing in number and power. And nothing and no one will be safe again...

Spend some more time with the Nightwalkers - if you dare.

"Frank continues her major hot streak with her latest Nightwalkers novel by giving this compelling hero a heroine worthy of him. Exceptional as always!" (Romantic Times)

Hard to get into but stick with it!

This book was hard to get into compared to the prior books. (Book 1 being least favorite with this a close second) Like others, I didn't enjoy Kestra as Noah's mate at first, but she grew on me as we learn more about her past and why she is the way she is. Also the fact that he called her "baby" was odd due to his age and station, just didn't fit and made me eyeroll a little everytime he said it. Still, overall I enjoyed this book and look forward to the finale!

Sex

Never thought I would say there was to much sex and not enough story, but that is how I felt with this book. As well as a lot of selfish women putting sex before the safety of the people/vampires/lyken....

One conflict resolved one to go

The saga's action picked up, a bit, in this book and I was relieved about that. I haven't enjoyed this series near as much as The Black Dagger brotherhood or The Immortals of New Orleans but enough to want to know what happens next; so on to the next book.

Anothert great Nightwalker

Any additional comments?

This one does not dissapoint. Strong characters you will really like face trajedy and triumph. The love is passionate and the committment is strong. The characters from previous books are brought into the story both good and evil. Naration is outstanding

Whats with Noahs change of vocabulary?

Any additional comments?

I dont understand what happened to Noah. I hated everytime he called Kestra Baby or Babe. None of the other elders spoke that way & Noah never gave any clue in all the other books that he had that kind of vocabulary. I was disappointed. It made him sound too modern & not like him at all. I think Kestras constant fight against her fate was a bit over board & exasperating. I think the only reason I even finished the book was because I love ALL the other characters sooo much. I truly dont look forward to Adam because I really dont look forward to Jazmine either. Jazmine grates on my nerves. BUT I of course I will read it because of the other characters.

Wanted to claw my eyes out!

I was prepared to like this book, having enjoyed the rest of the series. However, apparently Noah got a personality transplant in this book and I really didn't like him in this installment. Noah was needy and moody and childish. Then there is the fact that every time he referred to Kess as "baby" I wanted to gag and stop listening altogether. I agree with another reviewer that this particular term of endearment seemed anachronistic - primarily living in England and Noah being described as having a Regency era appearance, I could easily see him saying something like "my love" or "dearest", but "baby" seemed both too modern and too forced. I really struggled to get through this book, which had much more internal monologue and less action than the other books. The other characters seemed to be included less to further the storyline line and more as token appearances, rather than being as well woven into the story as in previous novels. I am very reluctant to move on to the next book after reading this, which is disappointing, as I really would like to find out what happens with the Ruth situation (which was barely touched upon in this book).

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I love this whole series! It is a fun world to explore and all the characters are so well written.. the villians are so evil you love to hate them :-)

What did you like best about this story?

I fell in love with Noah! the heroine bugged me at the beginning but becomes likeable toward the end... barely...

What about Xe Sands’s performance did you like?

she is great... not too fast, easily moves from one character to the next...

Too whiny for me.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Noah whines most of the book. Unsure about every other action and move he makes.

I might have to relisten...

I love... absolutely love the Nightwalker series… Every single book in the series, I love...

That being said, I do not like the new demon queen. She is not right for Noah... I have been waiting and waiting for Noah's story, and then he gets Kastra. What! I mean, I understand where Frank was trying to go with Kastra... Yes, the girl has got to be one tough cookie to be a demon queen, but Kastra is a little too tough. Poor Noah! I just wanted him to fall in love like Jacob did, but I guess I have to deal with a little sadness. But why Noah? He even made Isabella mad!!! OMG!! Why so much unrest for poor, poor Noah... Yes... great ending, leading up to the next book, but I still don't like Kastra. Then, she can't give him an heir. WHAT!!! Dang it... the more I write about her, the more I don't like her, even though she is such the perfect queen for Noah.

Let me say this, it’s not that I don't like Kastra, I just didn't like all the misfortune for Noah and Kastra. Even though, this was an awesome book, all the sadness, non-trust, and anger just through me for a loop. I was expecting the grand love story and I got heartache.

I think this book was a filler as well, like Gideon. The only plot point, once again revolved around Beth's story. It was too much of Noah and Kastra background, and then Kastra left! Sooo... I don't know... I will re-listen, but I still don't think I will like Kastra, even though she fits with Noah as his Queen well, I just don't like her. She just too dang tough.... UGH!!! Sooo on the fence here with Kastra!!!

Love Xe Sands once again. Best Narrator on Audible. Great Book, worth the credit. Don't buy... just wait for your free credit. A must if you are listen to all the Nightwalkers series, but I was a little disappointed in the queen.
