A team of sexy SEALs, a terrorist threat, and an attraction that can't be denied... it all comes together in this launch of the Hot SEALs romantic suspense series from New York Times and USA Today best-selling contemporary romance author Cat Johnson.
This book could have been great but it felt rushed to me. There could have been a little more story and it would have turned my rating to 5 stars. I liked the writing and the characters but I didn't feel the love between the them because they only had about 3 meeting before he realized he wanted her forever. I know it was over 6-7 months but I just needed more details and more encounters. I thought the sex scenes were super hot and the lead up for the rest of the series was definitely intriguing! I think this will be a HOT series with sexy Alpha male SEAL's (how could it not be)! The narration was just ok, I think it would have been better with dual narration because Craig Jessen has a sexy voice but not a great female voice. I will listen to book 2!

This is a really interesting, if brief start to the series. I am excited to read more of these smexy SEALs. Jon and Ali have a quick one night stand that builds to more over time.
The narrative is mixed between the two leads, alternating POV smoothly. I prefer this method, because you really get to see into the characters. Jon tends to keep his feelings on lockdown, he is rather serious. Ali is a great match for him because she brings levity to his somber moods. I will enjoy seeing more of them together as the series progresses.
Lots of supporting cast here as a few hints at future pairings. There is great potential in this series and where the stories can lead.
Yes, it is hot and smexy. Could have been hotter, as their time together was hurried. I would love to have a really nice long drawn out encounter. Sure they had that, but it was a case of tell and not show. I wanted to be there in every steamy caress of the reunion!!
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Craig Jessen, who has a great voice. I really enjoyed the timber of his read throughout. The men's tones are deliciously deep, while the women tend to be breathy. I did enjoy his pace, it moves the story along at slower moments.
A quick listen and tease for the series. I want more!!
Disclosure - I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts, opinions and ratings are my own.

Would you consider the audio edition of Night with a SEAL to be better than the print version?
This was my first audio book. The narrator for this book was just great. Since I haven't read the print version I can't compare but I loved listening to this audio version.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Night with a SEAL?
I enjoyed the tension and drama of the hostage scene. This moment was one where I couldn't stop listening to the story.
Which scene was your favorite?
I loved the sensuous love scene on the 4th of July night when Ali and Jon were together at Allie's apartment
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This story was one that I just couldn't stop listening to because it was so thrilling and yet it was sensuous and fun.

I was very disappointed in the lack of development. The concept was good, but not very believable.
Cat Johnson did a great job of launching this new series. I love the action and the romance combined with the brotherhood found in special forces.
So, I read book 3 first and liked it so well I thought I’d start from the beginning. Jon and Ali were a sweet couple, agreeing to a one-night-stand then unable to stop thinking about each other. Actually, I liked everyone on the team so I’m glad I went back and started with the first book. And it was nice when they decided to start their own company, especially after the mess at the bank and the fact that their hands were tied and couldn’t help, so all they could do was wait to see what happened and see if Darci and Ali were OK or not. As in the 3rd story this one ended in a HFN. Makes you wonder if they’ll all be that way.
The next one will be about the man-whore Zane and I’m anxious to read that one BUT I think I’ll wait a while. $3 seems a little high for so few pages. I’d end up paying $28 for all of them so I think I’ll take a break. (Not to mention the terrible female narration)
There was some very explicit sex in this story and the F-bomb was used 17 times.
As to the narration: I’m not going to invest in another audio in this series for now. Just like the last story I read in this series the narrator is great with the men and the emotions but he still sucks at the women’s voices. They sound just like men.
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, I would recommend this audio book to anyone who enjoys macho military guys who exude off-the-wall chemistry in well-plotted stories abounding with high-stakes action, The story was solidly plotted and it makes you want to read more of this series!
What did you like best about this story?
I thoroughly enjoyed the quick, steamy romance and the high-stakes action sequence that had me on the edge of my seat. <br/><br/>This book introduces us to a slew of hot, highly trained alpha Navy SEALS. It appears that each of them will be featured in a future installment. I can't wait to read each of their stories. NIGHT WITH A SEAL also sets the wheels in motion for the formation of a group of mercenaries made up of this close-knit set of Navy SEALS.I'm looking forward to seeing how this group evolves!<br/>
What about Craig Jessen’s performance did you like?
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Craig Jessen, who has a clear, crisp voice. This was the first time I've ever listened to him. He delivered a solid performance with pacing that was right on and with both male and female genuine-sounding voices. He differentiated between the characters to where I always knew who was speaking from his voice. I thought his performance was a perfect fit for the story. Based on this introduction to his vocalizations, I would not hesitate to pick up another audio performed by him.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I particularly enjoyed the couple's one-night stand. It was short, but intense... and, because the story is told from each of their POVs, I understood what was driving each character. <br/><br/>Here's a short excerpt from the end of that scene: <br/><br/> He kissed her forehead and pushed away. She moved so he could reach the doorknob and open the door. Standing in the opening, he glanced back at her. She waited for him to say something... Goodbye, Thanks for the b***job, something, anything. Instead, he tipped his head in a small nod, stepped outside and pulled the door closed behind him. That was it, then. In less than an hour, this man had captured her heart, loved her and then left her. It had to be the quickest beginning ,middle and ending of a romance in the history of the world.
Any additional comments?
I'm so glad I was introduced to Cat Johnson and her addictive books at the CY2016 Coastal Magic Convention. I'd already fallen in love with her cowboys and now her Seals have stolen my heart. This book kept me riveted from the beginning to the end. If you enjoy macho military guys who exude off-the-wall chemistry in well-plotted stories abounding with high-stakes action, I highly recommend that you check out Cat's Hot Seals series!
If you could sum up Night with a SEAL in three words, what would they be?
Thoughtful, Explosive, Proactive
Who was your favorite character and why?
Jon was focused. I really liked being in his thoughts. He was decisive.
Have you listened to any of Craig Jessen’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, I have not. I loved the story but the Narrator in my opinion was a bit emotionally detached from the story. It took some adjustment to get into his narration of the female lead. He did a good attempt to change his tones.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
One memorable night, One explosive ending.
I loved this book! I stumbled upon this series when some characters appeared in a crossover story with another author and I had to check out these hot SEALs!
I listened to most of the story on audiobook and thoroughly enjoyed the narration.
Jon and Ali meet and the chemistry is there but Jon's career as a SEAL makes anything more than a casual relationship almost impossible.
The story is a great mix of romance and action. Steamy with that touch of danger!
This story begins the incredible HOT SEALS series by Cat Johnson. I'm making my way through all these books now and this one starts the series off with a bang. Johnson's characters are well-drawn and you feel like they are people you actually know.
I was surprised and impressed with how well the author conveys the true nature of what it's like to be a SEAL, rather than a cardboard or politically correct version. As someone who lives with a man who works with Special Forces, I can tell you she knows her stuff. I will be reading all the HOT SEALS books, and I recommend you do too!
